Form analyst, RIC CHAPMAN, previews Wednesday’s Kensington meeting, with horse racing tips and analysis for all 8 races. Good luck, punters!
Track Condition: Good 4
Rail Position: True entire
What a tough race to open the day. A few of these unraced horses looked strong in trials. MOSCOW NIGHT was one of them leading all the way on a bog track. He actually kicked once they turned for home. Is tough and this is his home track.
RAMONES is very fast and was super on debut leading until final 100m in a very smilier race. Looks to have improved and there was a lot of late money for him to win last start.
VIBURNUM resumes here after two starts last campaign where he learned what to do. was unplaced in both but has talent so have in your numbers.
Interesting race. CABACA is on debut here. Led and fought on powerfully when beaten a nose by a filly who might be very smart. Hughie engaged here which suggests she has talent enough to be competitive.
ESPRIT LUCAND was very impressive on debut when getting back among runners on a muddy track yet powered home late to grab 3rd in a similar race. That experience probably brings her on a further length and the dry track will help.
TASHI showed enough talent in a trial to suggest she has an each way shot here. Is on debut on home track.
Tip: ESPRIT LUCAND
SPANISH POINT is dropping in class but would need to as his form hasn’t been on fore this campaign. Plugged on into 8th spot, only beaten 5 lengths in the 1600m Wellington Cup. This is longer and a tad easier.
NAVAL WARFARE hasn’t won a race for a long time but the old boy has run two nice races leading into this. He will appreciate this trip to. Can bob at big odds.
ROMAN rattled home from the back last start to grab 3rd in a similar race. This isn’t overly hard so should run on again. Big chance.
Tip: SPANISH POINT
MEDIA STARGUEST was disappointing in the mud last start when 6th. Drops a length or so in class here and has drawn the rails on a constantly improving track. No surprise to see him improve sharply. Watch market.
SEGRILL is racing lights out winning two of past three. Looms large again here and Willy Pike has the ride.
PROPOSE A TOAST is having a stellar few runs this time up. Beaten a length by Segrill this class last start and meets him a kilo better. So should be interesting.
Tip: PROPOSE A TOAST
These are tough races. Since coming into the Bjorn Baker stable, WATEGOS has grown a leg. Has scored at past two runs, both in weaker grade but is showing that raw trait -= of wanting too win. Sure to show up.
Former Victorian SHIRIKI looks well in. She can run at an even higher level and gets into this race after the claim with a winnable weight. Have in your numbers.
SHALSTAR resumes here but duid win two easier races in good style and watch market is best advice.
Oh I think JULIAN ROCK is ready to win. He has made impressive ground late at both his past two starts since resuming and last start was 4th when on the slow part of the track. Faster surface here suits him a great deal.
QUIET RIOT flopped in the mud last start but previous form was good enough for these. Drawn to suit as well and can finish hard.
KATTEGAT is 3rd up and won 3rd up last time. Made impressive ground this level last start and is getting close to a win.
Tip: JULIAN ROCK
CALGARY QUEEN has been up a while and last start got back on a bog track and got lost in the ruck. Totally different equation here and should rattle home late. Keep in your numbers.
This STEEL DIAMOND is a pretty honest mare and at this level is a big show. Resumes here but she was running great races at BM 78 level against better horses last prep. And has trialled twice really soundly leading into this.
BROKEN HILL has ability but is also a tad inconsistent. Might better on top of the ground so give another chance here.
