Randwick R8 – $2million The Ingham (3YO+) 1600m
1. HUETOR (8) x111x3418x
T: Team Snowden / J: Kerrin McEvoy (59kg)
Really good galloper but has always taken a couple of runs to hit his straps. Did beat Zaaki earlier this year at level weights in a Gr 1 race. No surprise to see him win this. He is trained here. Watch betting.
2. SUNSHINE RISING (23) 21x143x5x4
T: Mark Newnham / J: Tom Sherry (59kg)
Could cause an upset here. Only started once in Australia when given no chance, sitting 4-wide under 60kg all the way yet still ran 4th to Dajraan who he meets 3kg better. When at his peak he ran 1.32 for a mile which would win this. He also ran 2:00.2 for 2000m which would win this. But, they were two years ago.
3. POLLY GREY (3) x202128x47
T: Chris Waller/ J: Jay Ford (57kg)
Will be interesting to see where she gets too early. Is 3rd up so is fit enough and of course has the class to win. If she leads they will attack her all the way so if she sits back from this great gate in say 4th or so, she may well peel off their backs and be too strong late. Big danger.
4. KIRWIN’S LANE (10) 51643×4413
T: John O’Shea / J:Brenton Avdulla (57kg)
Is trained here and is very fit. On his side too is the fact he loves this course and is very honest. Should be just off the pace, covered up and will be right in the fray late.
5. SURF DANCER (22) 43161×1646
T: Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott / J: Winona Costin (57kg)
Only one option from here – goes hard and tries to lead them. Probably does. Is trained here, is fast and tough and very fit. Will take catching if he finds the front and fence early.
6. RIODINI (17) 8x0790x081
T: Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott / J: Tim Clark (56kg)
Top class when at this track. Is trained here and his last start win leading into this in the $1m The Gong says he is back to his best. And his best can win this. Have in your numbers.
7. BERDIBEK (6) x4x80566x0
T: John O’Shea /J: Dylan Gibbons (55.5kg)
Not won a race for a while and this is strong 2nd up. Will struggle.
8. LION’S ROAR (9) 4x98036x00
T: John O’Shea / J: Ben Coen (55.5kg)
Out of form and should get run over here.
9. SKY LAB (1) 29x1450x67
T: Paul Perry J: Josh Parr (55.5kg)
Just might give this a shake. Needed the run when still hitting the line last start finishing 7th in a blanket go behind Riodini in the $1m The Gong over this trip. Drawn perfectly, should be about 8th on the fence to the bend and if he has come on, will test these late.
10. SKYMAN (18) 54531x1x77
T: Chris Waller / J: Nash Rawiller (55kg)
Pretty smart, certainly good enough to be in this finish when at his best. Is 3rd up here after two handy runs to get him ready including a 7th to Dajraan last start over 1500m and meets him 2kg better. Can place.
11. ATISHU (20) 334×767512
T: Chris Waller /J: Sam Clipperton (55kg)
A big chance based on recent form. Gets back and will need to from this alley. But is in career best form. Can really motor home. Won Gr 2 at Flemington over 2000m then was a good 2nd in the 2000m Ballarat Cup on a wet track last start. Should rattle home.
12. NEW MANDATE (5) 0x01804x7
T: Chris Waller/ J: Jason Collett (55kg)
Does loom as one of the hardest to beat. Is from England and ran a cracking race for 7th to Ellsberg on Aussie debut last start. Super fit now and recently won a barrier trial. Watch market as he is good.
13. BARTHOLOMEU DIAS (11) 4×91570141
T: Annabel Neasham / J: Andrew Adkins (54.5kg)
Comes here with a surprise but very well established win last start over Just Folk at Flemington. Which was a really strong effort. If he gets back and runs on like that here he is a big player. But is coming back 200m.
14. DIAMIL (4) 21571×8814
T: John O’Shea / J: Tommy Berry (54.5kg)
Finished hard to win here over Purple Sector in October this trip then an eye-catching 4th to Ellsberg last start. Has won 4 races, all at this trip and has been backed.
15. ARAMAYO (16) 3299x400x5
T: Sam Cavanagh/ J: Ash Morgan (54kg)
More than handy Gr 1 placed galloper who loves this track and trip. Has changed stables which is a concern but first up run for new trainer did run a cracker when 5th in the $1m The Hunter over 1300m. Likes being 2nd up.
16. DAJRAAN (19) 1x1353x0x1
T: Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott/ J: Rachel King (54kg)
Good tough horse who is trained here. Many of these have form behind him after he stormed away after being on pace all the way to win the Gr 3 Festival last start over 1500m. Harder here, but he is in form, will be right up there all the way and carries just 1kg more than last start.
17. BRUTALITY (14) 548×769955
T: Joe Pride / J: Regan Bayliss (54kg)
Will be near enough to last for home, will get to the outside and with this weight should rocket home. But, will he be too far back in this massive field? Is very fit, loves this trip and is weighted to win. Big show.
18. SPIRIT RIDGE (2) 00x694408x
T: Annabel Neasham / J: Tyler Schiller (53.5kg)
Smart horse when right. Resumes here for new trainer and hasn’t a great fresh record but did win a trial handsomely recently. Place at big odds.
19. LONGVILLERS (24) 3x212626x6
T: Chris Waller / J: Mickey Dee (53kg)
Comes here at his 2nd Aussie start after a good 6th to Ellsberg at his first run here hitting the line hard. Is weighted win this. Has a lot of talent in France in Group races and seems very honest. Only option from this horror draw is to get back to near last but has finishing power.
20. WILD PLANET (13) 98600×9744
T: Team Hawkes / J: Zac Lloyd (53kg)
Will be big odds but has a knock out hope – if he doesn’t try and lead. Led until last 100m last start when good 4th at big odds to Riodini in the $1m The Gong. Is very fit but there are some leaders here who will dent his late power.
21. PURPLE SECTOR (7) 4406×22028
T: John Thompson / J: Reece Jones (53kg)
Unlucky not to get a start as he is competitive in these races and loves this track where he is trained. Can sneak a place at odds if he gains a run.
22. NUGGET (15) x312x14x21
T: Ciaron Maher & Dave Eustace/ J: Jason Collett (54kg)
Might be top shelf. Won like potential Group star in weaker race last start. If he gets a run he can win this.
23. PARRY SOUND (12) x0914259x0
T: Sara Ryan J: – (54kg)
Not quite as good as he was and this should test.
24. CISCO BAY (21) 546×893125
T: Gerald Ryan and Sterling Alexiou /J: – (53kg)
Tough horse who will be big odds but if he somehow gains a start is by no means the roughest. Loves this trip.
