Horse Racing Tips For Group 1 VRC Oaks

Form analyst, RIC CHAPMAN, looks at every runner in Thursday’s Group 1  Flemington VRC Oaks with horse racing tips for the first four. Read on to see how he maps and assesses the race. Good luck, punters!

1. ELUSIVE EXPRESS (8) 1×2312

T: Team Freedman /J: Jye McNeil (56kg)

Top class racehorse in the making and just seems to be a better young stayer than most of her cohort. Certainly up to 2000m. Beat the brilliant Yearning over 1610m in the Gr 2 Manifold, then yielded into 2nd spot to that filly in the Gr 1 Guineas. Bred to run all day. Big show.

2. WILLOWY (2) 35211

T: James Cummings / J: Damien Oliver (56kg)

So strong. So talented and is improving every start. Just came with a powerful rush to win a crucial lead-up to this race over 2000m last start and won with authority. All she needs to do is run up to that effort and she wins this race too. Exciting galloper in the making.

3. DAISIES  (6) 45612

T: Mick Price & Michael Kent / J: James McDonald (56kg)

This filly has stayer written all over her. Has been steadily improving every run  and led all way to win the 2000m Ethereal Stakes against her age at Gr 3 level. Then ran the smart Willowy to half a length last start in the Wakeful. Has emerging qualities and she should get a great run behind speed.

4. BISCAYNE BAY (3) 5121×783

T: Ciaran Maher & David Eustace / J: Hugh Bowman (56kg)

Smart filly who seems to be trained to be dour and has raced like that this time up. Every run indicating she is getting fitter. Good 3rd last start when coming from near last in the Gr 3 2000m Ethereal behind Daisies.  Good hope.

5. GONNADANCEALOT  (4) 9x521x80

T: Robbie Griffiths & Mat de Kock / J: Dean Yendall (56kg)

Has won here at 1800m earlier this year as a 2YO but two runs this time up have been woeful efforts . Not keen.

6. DOUCEUR (11) 1×6712763

T: Patrick Payne / J:Michael Dee (56kg)

Interesting galloper. Hadn’t shown any worthwhile form against this level until last start at $31 when  on speed and a gutsy 3rd to Willowy. This still looks too strong though.

7. GLINT OF HOPE (1) 2332

T: Trent Busuttin & Nat Young / J: Nash Rawiller (56kg)

Big chance here and she may, as a maiden galloper beat these. Has shown nothing but improvement as each race she contests gets longer. Last start she came from last of 11 at the end in the 2000m Ethereal and flew home to grab 2nd behind Daisies. That had 2500m written all over it.

8. TIZ MY BAY (5) 824×43356

T: Robbie Griffiths & Mat de Kock / J: Luke Currie (56kg)

Still a maiden after 8 starts and will the after this also. However, does give the impression she can stay and might at huge odds sneak a place.

9. BLACKCOMB (10) 4×52259

T: Danny O’Brien / J: Damien Lane (56kg)

Still a maiden after 6 starts and will be after this. Saying that she has run a couple of useful races but doesn’t look like 2500m will suit.

10. FABIOLA (7) 74641

T: Team Keys /J: Craig Newitt (56kg)

Looks outclassed but is a winner at least, scoring last start over 2046m in a Benalla maiden…narrowly. Not keen.

11. MORRISSETTE (9) 43×444

T: Simon Ryan / J: Declan Bates (56kg)

Maiden galloper from 5 starts to date but is by no means the roughest here. In fact could sneak a place despite having placed only once in her life. Did make up considerable and noticeable ground when 4th to Daisies over 1800m at Gr 3 level last start. Rough place hope.

Tips: 1. ELUSIVE EXPRESS,  2. Glint Of Hope, 3. Willowy, 4. Biscayne Bay
