Horse Racing Tips – Group 1 VRC Oaks

Form analyst, RIC CHAPMAN, looks at every runner in Thursday’s  Group 1 the $1m VRC Oaks with horse racing tips for the first four. Read on to see how he maps – he has included the potential for a damp track in his thoughts. Good luck!

1.SHE’S EXTREME (1) 21721×3623

T; Anthony Cummings / J: Tommy Berry  (56kg)

Can she stay? If she can she wins this by panels. Is a Gr 1 winner on a heavy track at Randwick over a mile. And last start was a great 3rd finishing like a train in the Gr 1 Champion Stakes over 2000m behind Sharp ‘ N’ Smart. Runs on like she isn’t worried by the extra 500m here. Big player and a must for your numbers.

2. ZENNZELLA (6) 92×311

T: Ciaron Maher & David Eustace / J: James McDonald (56kg)

Such a vastly improved filly who is progressing beautifully. Led all way to easily win Pakenham maiden over a mile then was $12 and pretty much did the same thing when winning the Gr 2 Wakeful over 2000m. Extra 500m will test but she looks pretty classy. And is a stablemate to Gr 1 Melbourne Cup winner Gold Trip.

3. RENAISSANCE WOMAN  (8) 614×6716

T: Bjorn Baker / J; Rachel King (67kg)

Is very tough and well travelled. After winning over 2000m in stakes level in Melbourne she came to Sydney and ran a neat race when 6th in the Gr 1 Champion Stakes over 2000m to Sharp ‘N’ Smart who came out and was beaten a nose in the Gr 1 Derby. Must be highly considered here.

4. PAVITRA  (10) 5511532

T: Team Freedman / J: Jamie Kah  (56kg)

Very consistent and honest but the trip is her biggest worry. Likes to run on speed and there are some hard finishers here. Led when battling 3rd to Renaissance Woman over 2000m and last start did finish off handily when 2nd to Zennzella beaten quarter of a length. Is a player.

T: Trent Busuttin and Nat Young / J: Blake Shinn  (56kg)

Lightly raced emerging star and she looks perfectly placed. Bolted in on a wet track at The Valley over a mile then stepped up to stakes grade and was very impressive when beaten less than a length in the Gr 3 Ethereal over 2000m by Renaissance Woman. Is rapidly improving with every start and looks to stay all day. Is a major threat.

6. LET’SBEFRANKBABY  (3) 21345

T: Robbie Griffiths & Mat de Kock / J: Lachlan King (56kg)

Interesting galloper. Is by Frankel so should run the trip right out and she has been racing well. Finished off OK when 4th to Renaissance Woman over 2000m at level weights then last start was solid 5th to Zennzella in the 2000m Gr 2 Wakeful. Handy enough.

7. AS TIME GOES BY  (5) 5×253

T: Team Freedman /J: Ben Melham (56kg)

Has a touch of class about her despite not having won a race yet from 4 starts. Won’t be long until she does. Did finish 2 lengths behind Zennzella last start when 3rd in the Gr 2 Wakeful over 2000m. Bred to like it long and wet and gets all that here.

8. QUEEN AIR (7) 844

T:  Lindsey Smith/  J: Blaike McDougall (56kg)

Maiden after 3 starts but is a maiden on the improve and she is a genuine hope in this. Runs on hard and looks like a stayer of promise. Beaten just on 2 lengths at level weights by the smart Zennzella last start in the Gr 2 Wakeful over 2000m and was finishing hard. Caught the eye last start. Place show.

9. SIRIUS PRINCESS  (11) 87×37

T: Trevor Andrews / J: Dean Holland (56kg)

Probably wouldn’t win this even with a head start. Maiden from 4 starts to date.

10. MAKRANA (4) 2579

T: Team Kavanagh / J: Michael Dee  (56kg)

Maiden who has been safely held past two starts in grades against many of these. Looks tested here also.

11. ALBANIAN ICON  (2) 858

T: Paul Koumis /J: Alana Kelly (56kg)

Maiden galloper still after 4 runs, and probably will be at the end of this. Looks to stay but grade seems above her.
