Form analyst, RIC CHAPMAN, looks at every runner in Saturday’s Group 1  Caulfield  Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes with horse racing tips for the first four. Read on to see how he maps. Good luck, punters!

1. DALASAN (11) 60x66546x1

T: Leon McDonald & Andrew Gluyas /J: Jason Holder (58kg)

So honest and such a quality galloper. Came home brilliantly to score first up in stakes grade at Morphettville this trip last start. Has won multiple times 2nd up. This is much harder but has always been able to improve on race day in the big races – his $3,530,000 in stakes attests to that.

2. LAWS OF INDICES (7) 5x5730409x

T: Annabel Neasham / J:John Allen (58kg)

Good horse but even though he shows good signs at this level he never actually converts. And that’s a worry. Had 7 starts last prep and around this level, and his best was a 3rd. Resumes here but does go well fresh. Watch market.

3. SINAWANN (3) 43x61x28x6

T: Team Freedman/ J: Ben Melham (58kg)

Star Gr 3 victor who looks a major threat. Doesn’t race much but when on song he can fly home. Was 6th when resuming in what was a disappointing effort but probably improves a few lengths this time around. Chance.

4. CALLSIGN MAV (12) x117x280x6

T: Grahame Begg/ J: Jordan Childs (59kg)

This bloke might win this at big odds. His form suggests he won’t but the way the race will be run disagrees with that. He’ll be up on speed throughout and is tough enough and fit enough to defy most of these.

5. I AM SUPERMAN (19) 582x4500x2

T: Team Snowden / J: Mark Zahra (58kg)

If the track is in good order he will take beating. Ran the star inform MR BRIGHTSIDE to a nose at level weights when resuming last start. Probably takes up a forward role here, in the top 5 anyway, and being 2nd up he should be right in the fray. Has strong claims.

6. JUST FOLK (5) 16x8710x62

T: Josh Julius/ J: Harry Coffee (57.5kg)

Interesting galloper. Very competitive on his day and is 3rd up here after running Dalasan to a head last start over 1400m. Never won at this track from 3 starts but has the talent to overcome that. Should be thereabouts.

7. GRACEFUL GIRL (1) 11x1821x05

T: Danny O’Brien/ J: Jamie Kah (57kg)

So keen to see this mare race. From this gate she probably gets back and smothered up which may well negate her powerful finishing burst. She is 3rd up and if she gets clear air she can really muster late. Have in numbers.

8. AYRTON (4) 21x13x187x

T: Mick Price & Michael Kent / J: Damian Lane (56.5kg)

Classy, lightly raced sprinter with the talent to blow these away. Resumes here after finishing a solid 7th in the Gr 1 Stradbroke this trip. Has trialled and won it. Drawn perfectly, has never lost when resuming in 4 starts and should be strongly considered.

9. HILAL (20) 11x5237x94

T: Team Hawkes/ J: Jye McNeil (56.5kg)

Would have been the one to beat had he drawn a marble but the car park makes it very hard. If he gets back, gets cover and they are finishing races off from the tail, he still has a hope.

10. SHOWMANSHIP (10) 111111x3x1

T: Danny O’Brien / J: Damien Oliver (56.5kg)

It is hard to look past a horse who has never been beaten at this trip in 4 attempts, never been beaten at this track and who has won 8 of his 10 starts. But to level the rationale, they have all been in weaker races. Saying that, he gets into good spots and is an athlete who knows where the post is. Scored at Randwick in Gr 3 company last start. Watch betting.

11. RED CAN MAN (17) 474x222x64

T: Steve Wolfe /J: Luke Nolen (56kg)

Good tough, competitive horse who is 3rd up. What he has going for him is that he likes to get out and be battling with lead all the way which he will need to do from this gate. Super fit now. Was close up 4th in Gr 2 last start and will be a thorn in the side of many late.

12. BUFFALO RIVER (16) 108×260630

T: Michael Moroney/ J: Daniel Stackhouse (55.5kg)

Tough solid sprinter who also likes to be on pace and will probably come across with Red Can Man. Isn’t quite as tough as him so looks to fold up late in the game in this race.

13. AYSAR (9) 460×406591

T: Team Hayes / J: Craig Williams  (55kg)

Good honest type who did win a 1200m Listed race last start so is fit but this grade has always tested him and should again.

14. BANKER’S CHOICE (18) x0111546x7

T: Michael Moroney / J: Craig Newitt (54.5kg)

Interesting galloper. Is a Group winner in NZ and was 4th in the Gr 1 George Ryder and a slashing 6th in the Gr 1 Doncaster. Is 2nd up here and the trip does seem a tad too short but is talented. Watch betting.

15. TUVALU (13) 1x12x1211x

T:Lindsey Smith / J: Jarrod Fry (54.5kg)

Deserves a shot at this level as his recent form in the next tier down races has been first rate. Also likes to be on pace and is very tough. Is he up to Gr 1 level, we’ll see, but he is honest.

16. CHAILLOT (6) 10x177x68x

T: Mick Price & Michael Kent / J: Daniel Moor (53kg)

Interesting mare. Form says she is not up to this level, but she is potent while fresh and resumes here. Bold gamble by connections. Probably gets back and runs on.

17. DRAGON LEAP (15) x85x34x24

T: Lance O’Sullivan & Andrew Scott/ J:Michael Dee (54.5kg)

Lightly raced but heavily gifted sprinter. Now, he’s from NZ where his form was solid. But, if we go on purely every horse’s last start performance, then he shapes as the one to beat here as he was a slashing 4th in the Gr 1 Memsie behind Snapdancer and that form has stood up. Respect.

18. I WISH I WIN (14) 2238x123x1

T: Peter Moody / J: Jamie Kah (54kg)

Big rise in grade here but he does have fight in him. Hails from NZ and on Aussie debut stormed away to easily win a BM 100 hcp. This is much harder but he has talent. Has strong claims.

19. AGE OF CHIVALRY (8) x4166580x5

T:  Mick Price & Michael Kent/ J: Ethan Brown (54kg)

Past his best and will be fading late in this.

20. OPEN MINDED (2) 3x03117x53

T: Team Freedman / J: Damien Thornton (53.5kg)

Has a good record this track and trip in easier races but was beaten 5 lengths last start by I Wish I Win so not likely here.
