Horse racing Tips – Group 1 Doomben 10,000

Form analyst, RIC CHAPMAN, looks at every runner in Saturday’s Group 1  Doomben 10,000 with horse racing tips for the first four. Read on to see how he maps on this race and assesses the race. Good luck, punters!

1. KEMENTARI (3) 2x147410x1

T: James Cummings /J: Nash Rawiller (58.5kg)

Enigmatic and a fan favourite as well as a fan foe. On his day he blows these away but his days are sporadic as he ages. Saying that, his return to racing last start was a devastating display of toughness, grit and power. Must have in your numbers.

2. VEGA ONE (1) 94x62412x0

T: Tony Gollan / J: Willy Pike (58.5kg)

Good local sprinter who generally shows up in these Gr 1 races and runs extremely well. Forget last start failure. Is better 2nd up anyway.

3. COUNT DE RUPEE (5) x1321x0021

T: Team Price/ J: Brock Ryan (58.5kg)

Form has continued to improve since resuming. Stormed home to just fail behind Kementari at Randwick in the mud then too strong late at Eagle Farm when winning the Gr 2 Victory Stakes which is always a great lead in to this. Big show.

4. ZOUSTYLE (11) x7x1x115x3

T: Tony Gollan /J: Brad Stewart (58.5kg)

Is very fast and when he gets it right he is extremely hard to catch. But in this he will have genuine world class speed going with him early which may bring him unstuck. Has run records so is capable. Also has won 9 races so knows the drill really well.

5.ROTHFIRE (7) 11x14x47x5

T: Robert Heathcote/ J: James Orman (58.5kg)

Super smart when right but has been bothered by leg issues for a while and not won a race for nearly two years. Saying that, he resumed, went fast and hung on ok when close 5th to Count de Rupee last start. Is fitter now and has won on soft ground.

6. SHELBY SIXTYSIX (14) 2521211770

T: Danny Williams/ J: Jim Byrne (58.5kg)

Interesting galloper. Has had his 15mins of fame and just is racing like he needs a spell now. Is a Gr 1 winner but was poor last start in weaker race.

7. SIGNORE FOX (9) 33x5555x76

T: Team Snowden / J: Ben Thompson (58.5kg)

Looks a quality sprinter this time of year but two starts since resuming have only been average, maybe even a tad below average. Is up to these on his day though and can find the line. Is 3rd up in this.

8. BALLER (4) x11x3220x8

T: Tony Gollan / J: Leith  Innes (58.5kg)

Smart enough when right and did win a recent barrier trial impressively. Was running with some fast ones last campaign. May need this run though.

9. MAZU (8) x5661x1111

T:  Team Snowden/ J: Sam Clipperton (57kg)

Good tough 3Yo who does look the measuring stick. Has won 4 from 4 this time up which makes 5 in a row and each run has been harder and harder yet he wins impressively. Absolutely swims in the mud too. Sits just off the speed and he’ll get speed here, then accelerates at will. Seems faultless.

10. PAULELE  (6) 12210×1033

T: James Cummings / J: James McDonald (57kg)

Solid type who has talent too. Finished 3rd to Mazu last start at level weights and was comfortably held. Is all class himself so may well make a race of this.

11. GENERATION (10) 11x331x124

T: Ciaron Maher & Dave Eustace /J: Jamie Kah (57kg)

This bloke does appear to be a chance. He has proven to be very sensible and honest and his only blemish, if you can call it that, was last start when 4th at Gr 1 level in Melbourne. Will try his heart out.

12. ALPINE EDGE (12) 127x1240x6

T: Team Edmonds/ J: Robbie Fradd (57kg)

Form is handy everywhere bar this track. When he comes here he is unbeatable winning 3 from 3. Saying that, he is in the silk draw department now so may struggle late. Looked average at Doomben last start when unplaced while resuming in weaker race.

13. ENTRIVIERE (15) 2x134x152

T: Mark Walker/ J: Opie Bosson (57kg)

Interesting runner. Respect her. She is a Gr 1 winner in New Zealand and is more than capable of winning this particularly as she is resuming from a spell. Has raced three times while fresh and won them all, including that Gr 1 win.

14. ISOTOPE (13) 11Lx12x1x0

T: Tony Gollan/ J:  Ryan Maloney (56.5kg)

Has so much talent and will run a bottler here. Loves it wet and she has dynamic finishing power on her day. But, is she a Gr 1 horse? We will find out. Did fail badly behind Shelby Sixty-six in the Gr 1 Galaxy recently.

15. MINHAAJ (2) x164x11x09

T: John O’Shea / J:Tom Berry (56.5kg)

Good mare but at handicap level and this will test. Not keen.
