Form analyst, RIC CHAPMAN, previews today’s big Scone Day 1 meeting, with horse racing tips and analysis for 3 races. Good luck, punters!

Track: Heavy 8

Lots of intrigue in this race. A $50k Maiden in the bush. Love the direction racing is headed in NSW. I also love this Cam Crockett trained INDICATIVE. The horse has raced 5 times for 3 placings but then was sold and is now with Crockett, significantly, trained here at Scone. This will be his first start for his new trainer. And he has talent. From this draw while fresh I see him kicking up into about 4th early and just be there looking for a rails run as they straighten. He’s been placed over 1500m this grade so should be strong enough down the running. The very heavy track should suit those up on speed too. And he has placed on a soft track. BOOTSCOOTER, also trained here, is a tough type who can run the quinella.

Interesting race. A good number of last start winners here. This is a really good Cl 1. I like YOUR TEMPTATION who is one of those recent winners. Bolted in to win maiden last start over 1400m after being on speed all the way. Track that day was very heavy and will be again today. He is by Your Song, who loved the mud too. Today will be just his 4th start. AFRICAN DAISY won her maiden in the mud too so will keep him honest down the running.

I know this race has drawn a really strong, even bunch and finding the victor is a tough ask. But I do think ART CADEAU is ready to pounce. He doesn’t mind it a bit damp and his recent runs have been full of merit getting back and running on. This long straight will suit him. RUSTIC STEEL is in tremendous form and led all the way last start but is up a little in grade here. Quinella them.
