Form analyst, SCOTT MCDONELL, previews Saturday’s meetings, with horse racing tips and analysis for the five best bets of the weekend. Good luck, punters!

SKIRT THE LAW is the best hope for the locals. The Tony Gollan trained filly has demolished them in both her starts and from ideal barrier draw Ryan Maloney should get the perfect run in transit and if she can produce the acceleration she has shown in two starts she can measure up to these.

Tip: SKIRT THE LAW

I think RUSSIAN CONQUEST should have won the Gosford Guineas first-up when just held-up at vital stage. Gets out to the 1425m with James McDonald taking over the reins she looks a nice each-way bet in this.

Tip: RUSSIAN CONQUEST

Thought OSCAR ZULU was ready to win coming into this third-up from a spell. Won fresh then bit unlucky when held up in The Gong. Won recent trial on the poly track and is up to winning this.

Tip: OSCAR ZULU

ALASKAN GOD has been set for this race from the start of his campaign after his easy WA Derby win in the Autumn. He has raced the best from the west this time in, in Trix In The Trade and Amelia’s Jewel in G1s leading up to progressing to this journey last start.

Although seemed somewhat disappointing last start, he simply got too far back and had to work too hard in the run home. Patrick Moloney is coming west to ride him and this horse on past formlines, certainly seems to be the one they will all have to beat to take the Cup from him..

Tip: ALASKAN GOD

Going to have a little each way here on DAWN PASSAGE. This lightly raced 6yo from the Waterhouse/Bolt camp has been up and down the east coast over the past year racing in Group & Listed races and raced really well.

Looks as though they have found a very suitable race here for a first up tilt as he seemingly performs best fresh (7:2-1-2)  and with Craig Newitt on board, we should see him tracking the speed and hoping will be the one running over them at the finish.
