Form analyst, SCOTT MCDONELL, previews Saturday’s meetings, with horse racing tips and analysis for the six best bets of the day. Good luck, punters!

BEST OF BORDEAUX was slightly disappointing last time out, he had to race wide and may not have been ready as expected for the first up run. Will be much fitter today and the distance range looks very suitable.

He is a really nice colt and may just be too good for them this time around with his main danger Fireburn first up and maybe looking for more ground.

Tip: BEST OF BORDEAUX

ELLSBERG is unbeaten first up from a spell, winning all fresh starts at his previous three campaigns. This entire has had a couple of light hit outs at the trials to get his fitness levels up for this legendary race, so he should be right in the mix today.

Any money for him in the betting ring would only enhance my confidence in him to run a bottler.

Tip: ELLSBERG

I’M THUNDERSTRUCK is the best miler in Australia having won the Toorak Handicap last season then followed up with enormous win in the Golden Eagle (1500m). He then chased home Mr. Brightside in the Doncaster Handicap back in the autumn giving that horse 5kgs in weight.

He was the best run out of the Memsie Stakes (1400m) when he hit the line strongly behind the on pace winner Snapdancer. He gets out to his favoured distance on the bigger circuit at Flemington and he can add to his Group 1 tally.

Tip: I’M THUNDERSTRUCK

Can see LADY OF HONOUR controlling this race from the front. She was so strong winning when favourite at Caulfield last start with Jake Noonan aboard and from ideal barrier he may try similar tactics.

The Hayes camp have been having a good run in recent times and at the odds I am happy to have something each way.

Tip: LADY OF HONOUR

ROHERYN only had the one run when last in work and was poor at Scone. His first-up record is superb (7:5-0-0) and he is way over the odds for me in this race.

Blake Shinn takes the ride on the Godolphin owned gelding and he may just finish the race all over these. Have something each way on him.

Tip: ROHERYN

COULDN’T REFUSE should have finished much closer last week as was held up at a crucial point in the straight and had to hook off heels. Got to the line solidly and looks well placed again, track and distance stats say he is right in this race and even more so with Jim Byrne aboard.
Excellent each way value at this time.
