Morphettville R9- $503,000 Australasian Oaks (3YO Females) 2000m
1. SHE’S FIT (16) 6×623113
T; Dan Morton / J: Craig Williams (56kg)
Star galloper from West Australia. Had beaten up on her filly cohort in stakes races including the WA Oaks then ran her heart out when 3rd in the WA Derby over 2400m. Just seemed to find it a tad long. This is 400m shorter and is going to make her presence felt. Big threat.
2. ARTS (13) 1015
T: Ed Cummings / J: Sam Clipperton (56kg)
Hard to get a true line on this Sydney filly. We know she is good, but is she super good? Probably is the answer. Stormed home on a wet track to win this trip in Sydney before stepping up to the Gr 1 ATC Oaks and running on only fairly when 5th. Seems better placed this trip and if any rains pops up, get on.
3. JENNILALA (2) 15×2721
T: Ciaron Maher & Dave Eustace / J; Declan Bates (56kg)
This is a pretty smart filly in the making. Beaten a nose at Sandown then came to SA and Storme home most impressively from well back to win a Gr 3 over 1800m. Beat a few of these home and beat them in a manner that says she is a player in this.
4. AS TIME GOES BY (14) 5x2535x221
T: Team Freedman / J:Jake Toeroek (56kg)
Is one of the best fillies in this race. Up on speed all way when narrow winner here in the Listed Lindop over a mile. Was placed in Gr 2 in Melbourne last campaign this trip. Is one of the top hopes.
5. AMATI (8) 7408×81028
T: Chris Waller / J: Micky Dee (56kg)
Talented filly from Sydney but can mix her form. Placed in Gr 3 in Melbourne over a mile then never sighted in a handicap against her age at Sandown. This may test.
6. AFFAIRE A SUIVRE (18) 57×311
T: Ciaron Maher & Dave Eustace / J: John Allen (56kg)
Lightly raced but has a lot of ability and may be the Brest of the Maher/Eustace trio. Won Cranbourne maiden over 1500m in good style then up to Listed grade and won even easier here in the Port Adelaide Guineas over 1800m. Seems to have staying talent.
7. RUNNING ON TIME (9) 115352
T: Ciaron Maher & Dave Eustace / J: Damien Oliver (56kg)
Interesting filly. Lightly raced but likes to get out and gallop on the speed. May even lead these. Did that when fading 5th in a strong Gr 2 Alister Clark over 2040m and the Valley, then again when colours lowered later by Affaire A Suivre in the Port Guineas. Is tough and will be in the firing line all the way.
8. MORE REWARD (15) x33421x657
T: Dan Clarken & Oopy MacGillivray /J: Todd Pannell (56kg)
Handy staying type who did easily win a stakes race here last October over 1800m. But in 3 subsequent runs against many of these fillies has missed a place.
9. KILLIAKO (1) 0x3123x761
T: Phillip Stokes /J: Ben Allen (56kg)
Back to best form with win in handicap grade last start. Hasn’t followed the traditional path but is now very fit and when fit last prep was placed twice at this level running on both times.
10. ARUGAMAMA (12) 43×1332
T: Leon McDonald & Andrew Gluyas / J: Lachlan Neindorf (56kg)
Has talent and went from a gutsy 1100m maiden win to placing twice in important lead up races for this, latest when dashing late for 2nd to Jennilala here in a Gr 3. Has claims.
11. PARTY PRINCESS (7) 243×5112
T: Leon McDonald & Andrew Gluyas/ J: Jason Holder (56kg)
Could be the dark horse here. Gets back but possess a very powerful finishing burst and has been crying out for this journey. Beaten a lip over 1600m in the Lindop to As Time Goes by last start. Big show.
12. PROSCENIUM ARCH (6) 1337×985
T: Trent Busuttin & Nat Young /J: Craig Newitt (56kg)
Not racing well enough in past three runs to test these.
13. ANPHINA (4) x1x50x3444
T: Andrew Bobbin /J: Jacob Opperman (56kg)
Is a good solid, stayer in the making shown by past two runs when 4th in crucial lead up races. Not the worst.
14. WHAKAMANA (3) 851258×32
T: Trent Busuttin & Nat Young / J; Jake Noonan (56kg)
Handy handicap type who has placed past two but is rising in grade a fair bit here. Not keen.
15. STARIANNE (5) 2x245x312
T: Trent Busuttin & Nat Young / J; Dean Yendall (56kg)
This may be a bit hard. After winning a Ballarat maiden, finished well in a BM 64 at Sandown when 2nd over 1500m. This is harder still.
16. MOYA LASS (11) 433×351
T: Julius Sandhu /J: – (56kg)
Isn’t considered a winning threat although did storm home to win a maiden last start this trip but in slow time.
17. RICH RESULT (10) 9617×108
T: John Ledger /J: Teegan Voorham (56kg)
