Preview – Gr 1 King Charles III Stakes

Injury cloud over him during the week following his incredibly gutsy win this trip here in the 7 Stakes running down Zaaki at level weights. is honest as they come, ploughs his way through adversity and is going to be a major threat here as always.

Is a champion – no other words can describe him better. Has won 14 races, nearly $10million in prize money and just runs so incredibly honestly every race. Unbeaten this track in 2 Gr 1 races, and has won 10 times at this journey. Ran super fast last 600m to run over Alligator Blood this trip in Gr 1 Maybe Diva last start and that horse has since won a Gr 1. Looks the winner.

What a war horse. Just keeps showing up and racing brilliantly. Is 3rd up here after being gunned down on the post last start in a very similar race. Fitter now. Big danger.

Quality Gr 1 galloper who is trained here. Resumes here against very fit horses and that is a cause for concern. Not today.

European Gr 1 star whose record suggests he is world class. Last run was in September when favourite and 2nd in slow time in a Gr 3 mile. Prior to that was 2nd at Gr 1 level this trip. Obviously good – but so is Mr Brightside.

Probably runs in Melbourne avoiding this race. If he does start here, well he’s very fit and capable but rarely wins. Was a good closing close up 7th in Gr 1, fast run, Epsom here this trip last start.

Well performed Irish galloper with Gr 1 form to his credit and a trainer that seems to win every time he comes to Australia. In recent starts was 4th in Gr 1 at Longchamp (Light Infantry Man beat him home), 3rd in Listed race at ascot and last start 2nd in Gr 2 this trip. Must be considered.

After strong 5th to Think It Over here this trip in 7 Stakes, he moved up to win at the 200m but wilted late when 4th to Montefilia in the Gr 2 Hill Stakes. This looks too hard.

Travelled wide and given no chance in fast run Gr 1 Epsom here last start fading to 10th. Can do better but hasn’t come up quite as well this prep.

After brilliantly winning the Gr 3 Cameron easily he was unlucky not to win the Gr 1 Epsom here when 5th and held up for a run in the straight. Is flying at present but at WFA he may struggle. Saying that, he is racing in rare form and is 4th up.

Since connections found a set of blinkers and put them on him, he’s been a different horse. Perfect try ridden when too good in the Gr 2 Theo Marks over 1500m, then. from outside gate was used up early and still looked the winner at the 150m when close 3rd in the Gr 1 Epsom. Is absolutely flying now and meets Epsom winner Redeiner 5kg better for being beaten a head.

Held up for a run but flew late when beaten a whisker in Gr 1 Epson this track and trip in good time last start. Is 3rd up here and meets the winner Redeiner 4kg better for narrow loss. Major threat.

Made it 5 wins from last 6 starts when perfectly ridden by Kath O’Hara who retains the ride here in th Gr 1 Epsom this trip last start. Meets them all several kilos worse off but he is a winner and can rattle off fast sectionals late. Is very fit.

Champion trainer Chris Waller has 5 runners in this race and this is the one the stable feels has the best chance. Brilliant finish to win Gr 1 Winx when resuming then too far back early when flashing home into 3rd behind Think It Over and Zaaki last start. Can turn the tables.

was 2nd up last start when chased the brilliant Espiona home in fast time when 2nd in the Gr 2 Gold Pendant over 1400m. Is an easy Gr 1 winner this trip here on a soft track and is 3rd up. Has claims.

Terrific mare close to a win. Was 2nd to Atishu in Gr 1 mile last prep and when 2nd up last start was a solid closing 6th to Redeiner in the Gr 1 Epsom. Meets him 5.5kg better for being beaten less than 2 lengths. Respect her.
