1. Shinzo (4)
Will nearly win this. His preparation has been spot on and being third up he looks cherry ripe. Should have run a place in The Everest but was never allowed to run a complete race being cluttered up. This race is easier. Last campaign, he beat Cylinder and King’s Gambit home in the Gr 1 Golden Slipper. I suspect the real Shinzo turns up here as he get free running and he’s a must to have in your numbers.

2. Cylinder (14)
Is in terrific form and will prove extremely hard to beat in this. Up on speed all the way and just couldn’t come on last bit when beaten a length by the superstar Think About It in The Everest in super, super fast time. Is very fit and is racing tremendously well. Big chance.

3. Don Corleone (3)
Slowly getting back to his best but even his best isn’t quite up to the very, very best at this journey. Finished hard for close 3rd in nice lead up race last start behind Arkansas Kid. Is fit.

4. Veight (18)
Quality Gr 1 performer who was a game 2nd in the Gr 1 Caulfield Guineas over a mile last start. It is a very big ask at this level to come back 400m for this but did run fast time to win this trip at Caulfield when resuming and has yet to be beaten at this track.

Track Talent
5. King's Gambit (2)
6. Steparty (1)
7. Arkansaw Kid (16)
Interesting runner. Clearly has finishing power which he showed to run down Facile and Don Corleone last start this trip at Caulfield. Has run some bad races too. He is 3rd up here so is peaking and if he brings his A-game he is a threat.

Place Performer
8. Snapback (13)
9. Scheelite (11)
Talented colt who has run a fast 1100m in the past. Recent starts have been solid finishing just behind the placegetters in all the big races for his age. Same result expected here.

10. I Am Unstoppable (12)
May be the dark horse here. Loves it damp but runs well irrespective and looks suited to this trip. Just beaten by Cylinder, then just beaten by last start winner Archo Nacho (beating King’s Gambit home), then last start beaten a nose by Stretan Angel (beating Don Corleone home). Came home hard in all of those races and this is 100m longer.

Ready to Fire
11. Ozzmosis (6)
Boom Sydney sprinter who lost a little lustre last start when there to win but was run down late by King’s Gambit. Is fast and this track should suit. Likes to be on speed. has claims.

Proven Winner
12. Mexico (10)
Ran lights out the race of his life last start at $41 when 2nd to King’s Gambit in the Gr 2 Roman Consul at Rosehill beating Ozzmosis home. Can hit the line hard but needs to run another PB in this.

13. Butch Cassidy (19)
Has talent and has run two x 4th placings at past two starts just behind some very smart ones in Cylinder and Militarize. Likes to be on pace all the way and is super fit.

Place Performer
14. Moravia (7)
Is lightly raced but is very talented. Had been racing well and holding his own in this grade, including being beaten a nose by Cylinder, a few times before stepping up to 1400m and finding it a tad too far when a fading 6th to Militarize in the Golden Rose. This is no easier but the trip suits more. Place show at good odds.

Place Performer
15. Celui (5)
Has already won 3 races and looks to be getting better as he ages. This is a massive rise in grade but did run home impressively to win over 1000m last start in good time. Not this year but looks to have a future.

Proven Winner
16. Nadal (15)
Has loads of talent but may be a prep early for him. Did make impressive ground late when 3rd to Cylinder and Moravia two runs back but didn’t run on when easily beaten by Militarize in the 1400m Golden Rose last start. Should be running on but this field is top drawer.

Good on Soft
17. Tiz Invincible (9)
Here’s the x-factor horse. She is a multiple Gr 2 winner and can run very fast over this trip. On speed but weakened late in Gr 1 mile last start missing a place. This appears a good option and she has been freshened. Would not surprise me at all to see her win this.

Proven Winner
18. Stretan Angel (17)
South Australian filly with enormous talent. ran a simply stunning race in defeat here in the Cap D’antibes when resuming coming from 17th at the clock tower to lose by a nostril and no surprise to see her finish hard and win here over 1100m in the Gr 2 Danehill. Must pose a threat to them all as she can finish.

handy filly who has won at Gr 3 level but wouldn’t win this race with a head start.
