1. Light Infantry Man (7)
Interesting. He has no heavy track form, but is very good on a soft track. He also is quite good first up and is resuming here. He’s a Gr 1 winner and can sprint. That all suggests he may run a cheeky race. two trials recently have been solid.

Good on Soft
2. Ceolwulf (8)
Top class Gr 1 winner who doesn’t mind it wet. And, he looks pretty forward too. Resumes here but was a close up 2nd to his recent winning stablemate Private Eye in a trial. Will no doubt get back but can sprout wings late. Have in your numbers.

Proven Winner
3. Gringotts (10)
Sat on speed when he beat a similar field to win the Gr 1 George Ryder over 1500m. That was on a good track at Rosehill. Does boast great form on a soft track but has no heavy track stats to look at. Is solid usually when fresh but drawn wide. Did win a recent trial.

4. Arapaho (4)
It would not surprise me to see this old boy cause a massive boil over and win this. Yes, he’s the current Gr 1 Sydney Cup winner over 3200m, but he loves it wet, races well fresh and will be on speed all the way. Have in your numbers.

5. Lindermann (12)
Always a threat although he has horrid heavy track form. Goes well fresh though and is the pace in the race. May find the good part of the track before the others and hang on for a place.

6. Robusto (9)
Is very fit and is in form. Lumped 60kg to victory over 1500m last start in easier race. Has good record on soft tracks but no record on heavy tracks. Probably finds the one, one and could run a place at odds.

Good on Soft
7. War Eternal (6)
Interesting. Is very fit winning over 1400m in the mud last start against easier opposition. And there is the balancing act. He is rising in grade but likes it wet and is fit. Probably travels midfield to the bend. Place show me thinks.

8. Diamond Diesel (3)
Old timer not suited by this grade. Does love the wet though – the heavier the better but this is another level altogether. No.

9. Via Sistina (1)
Champion. Has won $12 million in prizemoney and won this race last year. Trialled well on a heavy track last week. Should go very close.

Ready to Fire
10. Fangirl (5)
Interesting mare. Is brilliant first up. Is a Gr 1 winner. Is good on a soft track. Has beaten Via Sistina. Loves this track, is outstanding at this trip – BUT – is hopeless on a heavy track. Watch market.

11. Full Count Felicia (11)
Front-running Canadian mare who has run super fast time at 2000m when leading. Only Aussie start was 4th to Via Sistina in Gr 1 Ranvet Stakes. Yet to win at this trip but comes here after 2 trials. Place show.

12. Aeliana (2)
Might just be a superstar. I’ve already backed her to win the Melbourne Cup. Resumes here and can sprint. Held back in 2 trials thus far. Probably finds this a bit rich first-up but is a dab hand on a wet track. Watch betting.
