1. Overpass (3)
Has proven virtually unbeatable this trip at this track in numerous trips here. Is in form and should again lead these a merry dance. Terrific run when leading and ending up 4th in the $20m The Everest behind the world’s best sprinter Ka Ying Rising.

Track Talent
2. Jokers Grin (6)
Is by far and away the best sprinter in the west and he loves this track. As a result, just keeps winning. Interesting to note that the last time he raced the great Overpass, it was here at this trip with level weights and he beat Overpass by 1.6 lengths. Has improved since then. Huge threat.

Proven Winner
3. Oscar's Fortune (5)
Star sprinter who went east in search of fortune and fame and did not find it. Was very easily contained in every start over there, so came back here in June. Since arriving back, has picked up and his past 2 starts have been great chasing home, quite closely, Joker’s Grin. Is 3rd up now, drawn beautifully, and ready to pounce.

4. Rey Magnerio (8)
Star Victorian sprinter who has returned to racing in tip top order. Both his starts back he’s sat behind the pace then unleashed, winning at Flemington and placing at stakes grade again last start. Not raced here but has power late and is in form.

5. Rope Them In (10)
Very smart but is generally regarded as being a tier below the best in the west. Thrashed by Joker’s Grin at their last 2 meetings. Saying that, he rattled home from a mile back in the 1400m Asian Beau last start beaten only a half length by Watch Me Rock who franked the form winning the Gr 1 Railway last start. The shorter trip here is main worry.

6. Libertad (2)
Good sprinter from the east who is fit enough, but has shown to be about a length or so inferior to the top grade. And, this is a great rendition of the race.

9. Repossession (4)
Was dominating the 3YO sprint handicaps and now he’s a 4YO, has been stepped up to the A grade where he has shone. Past 2 starts have been against Joker’s Grin and Oscar’s Fortune and he has run a close up 3rd each time to them. Drawn beautifully and this may be his coming of age in the top grade.

Place Performer
10. Benedetta (9)
Top class former Gr 1 winning mare on her day. Did have a change of stable a few months back and is now with Ciaron Maher. In 2 starts for him is yet to run a place but ran on ok when 5th to Giga kick last start. Fitter now and is capable.

11. Luana Miss (11)
Brilliant 3YO filly against her own age group but her pattern of racing will be against her here as she runs against a hot Gr 1 open field. Light weight helps as she can rocket home late but from this draw she probably drops to last in the early stages and I can’t see her running past all these stars late.
