Gr 1 – VRC Oaks

Was bred to be good, and is showing all the promise in the world. Everything has been rushed a bit – she was beaten in a maiden back in mid-September, but since then has raced twice in October for Gr 2 win and last start just bolted away to win the traditional main lead-up race, the Gr 2 Wakeful. Was on pace throughout and looked awesome. Will take catching.

Brings top-class Sydney form to this race, and that makes things interesting. Sat just behind pace when a good 2nd in the Gr 3 Gloaming over 1800m, then again against the boys, was in top 4 all the way and game 3rd to the ultra smart Attica in the Gr 1 Champion Stakes over 2000m. Trip may test late, but will be in the top 3 for pretty much all of this race.

Smart bush filly who returned to top form with all the way comfortable win over 2000m in the Gr 3 Ethereal from Just A Journey. Lots of speed in this ensures a top Oaks run at a solid clip. She probably leads them for a good while but the extra 500m is her biggest worry.

Yet another good filly who is in form and who likes to lead. man, this could be a sprint for the first mile. Led and nabbed on the post by Getta Good Feeling in the 1600m Gr 2 Manifold, then sat behind Spicy Lu and was 2nd to her in the Gr 3 Etheral over 2000m. Bred to get the trip, but if she goes forward, she will get burned. Place.

What a week for Jamie Melham already but if she guided this filly to victory, it would be out of this world. Sadly, however, I can’t see that happening. While she is fit and handy, she just seems about a length or so behind the very best of them. Does like the sting out of the ground.

Handy Sydney filly who caught the eye when getting home hard from the back and 4th in the 1800m Gr 3 Gloaming behind the good Shangri La Boy. Then, tried to do the same when plodding 8th in the Gr 1 Champion Stakes. What I do like is that she will settle off what looks a cracking early pace and she can stay. Have in your numbers.

This may all be a tad too soon, but she is good. Was having just 3rd start last run, when she stepped up to 2000m and stakes grade both for the first time, yet powered home late from last on bend to finish 2nd to the brilliant Getta Goo0d Feeling. Seems like she can stay and will be out the back, before charging late.

Looks a strong stayer in the making but, yep, is another on pacer. Led all the way to win 3YO fillies hcp here over 1800m, then sat just behind Spicy Lu in the Gr 3 last start finishing 3rd just 1.5lengths away over 2000m. Is a grinder.

In very strong stable but is still a maiden after 6 starts and was beaten out of a place by Spicy Lu last start being midfield all the way. Not keen.

Not really bred to get this trip, and is yet another speed horse. Led all the way to break maiden at Ballarat over 1600m by a nose then was $41 when handy 3rd to Getta Good Feeling, beaten 2.5 lengths. Probably finds this tough over the final 150m.

Won a maiden at Hamilton in the bush in slow time, and well held in 2 subsequent stakes races. Not keen.
