Gr 1 Underwood Stakes

Last year’s Melbourne Cup who is around $51 to win it again this year. I’ve already taken a bit of that. Resumed with a great 6th in unsuitable race last start and that $51 no doubt trims up after he gets to the line strongly in this. Probably runs about 6th but will look solid in doing it.

Top class. Is going to mess with these if he is on song despite it being a stunning field. Looking toward major Gr 1 races in the Spring and can nearly win them too starting with this race.

Is very fit and will be in front for some time. Gr 1 racing may be a bridge too far nowadays however.

Looks back in brilliant fashion and is 3rd up here. Drawn to get the run of the race just behind the pace. Too strong in nice lead up race last start. Big threat.

Solid campaigner who can bob up but has been up a while now, and yet to win in 4 starts this prep. Lots of talent around him too. Not keen.

Smart stayer being readied for the Gr 1 Melbourne Cup. Is 3rd up in this. Badly drawn so no doubt goes back to find cover. Can work home but WFA doesn’t suit.

This bloke could be the dark horse. Has loads of talent at this trip and carried 8kg more than the boom horse Revelare last start when resuming and was making great ground late, when 5th to him beaten 3 lengths. Expect a bold showing.

Last campaign was just behind the placegetters in a series of Gr 1 races. Settled into Aussie way of life now and looked outstanding winning with 61kg last start over 1700m. Harder here but is racing with zest. Place show.

Lightly raced potential superstar from France. This will be just his 9th race start and 3rd for Gai and Adrian. Was the eye-catching run in the Gr 2 Chelmsford over 1600m when resuming making ground on a biased track against those who wanted to run on. Is French Gr 1 placed, is aiming at the Cups here and looks very hard to beat in this.

North American Gr 1 winner who at 2nd start this prep in Australia ran Desert Lightning to a head over 1500m. Meets him 2kg better at the weights and is fitter now. Has won up to 2213m so keep her in your numbers.

Top mare who should be competitive. Finished 5th when having first run for new stable last start behind Desert Lightning and Moira. Was making ground and the extra 200m suits her a lot. Has won twice when 2nd up.

American Gr 2 winner who in 2 starts since arriving in Australia hasn’t fired a shot. Has won at this trip and now with Chris Waller who can get a mare to fire. Watch market.
