Gr 1 – Thousand Guineas Preview

Is a little hard to catch but on her day she is difficult to get past. Led all the way and won the Guineas Prelude over 1400m easily on a soft track. Then up on speed and melted the final 150m last start when beaten 4 lengths by Zeitung. Loves the track to be damp – that enhances her chances immensely.

She might be very good. Was sensationally backed when resuming and whizzed home 7th on the bend to nab Dominetta on the wire in the 1400m Reginald Allen at Gr 3 level. Came to Melbourne after that and slaughtered her rivals winning the 1600m Carbine Club at Gr 3 level at Flemington. Poor draw is no great concern as she will go back early. Has a powerful, Gr 1 level finishing burst.

The trip at this level is the main danger for her. Was ridden right off the pace to see if she could run on last start when last on the bend in the Gr 3 Vanity of 1400m. Did make ground late for 6th, beaten 2.6 lengths by Zeitung. That didn’t inspire me a great deal. Has raced here twice for 2 placings though. Place show.

Races like this trip will be right up her alley and is in dazzling form. Ran on for 2nd on leader-biased race day when 5th for home in the Guineas Prelude, then absolutely rocketed home from a mile back to win the Vanity of 1400m drawing away. Should settle about 6th, with cover and is the form horse. Big show.

After a narrow Ballarat maiden win over 1400m, was tossed into the deep end over a mile in the MV Classic and came up trumps after coming from a mile back. Time was average but she is clearly above average and should be rattling home in this. Is now unbeaten in 2 starts and probably sits midfield before unleashing.

An interesting filly from Sydney. Up on speed all the way when a very close and game 2nd in the 1400m Gr 3 Reginal Allen at Randwick, then came to Melbourne, sat back and ran home gamely when 3rd to Zeitung over 1400m in the Gr 3 Vanity. More experienced now the Melb way of going and is a definite player.

Good filly who has foot on the till. Ran Zeitung to within a length in 1400m Vanity at Gr 3 level last start. Made good ground late. That suggests the trip will suit but she has drawn poorly so may have to go a long way back to get in. Still, has talent and should be running on.

Had been consistently finishing on the tails of the placegetters in the main lead-up races before breakout effort when on speed in the 1600m Carbine Club Gr 3 and a game 2nd. Time was average but she is fit, in strong stable and now in form. Place.

Really smart filly who has foot on the till. Is 4th up here and ready for the challenge. Last start was a real eye-opener as she was 11th to the bend in the 1400m Springtime Stakes yet finished very hard to fail by 1.6 lengths in fast time, finishing 3rd to Catoggio. That run suggested the trip isn’t a worry. Have in your numbers.

Is very smart and improving but trip may be a test. Went from easy midweek Sandown win in the mud to a pair of outstanding stakes runs, latest when 4th to Zeitung in Gr 3 Vanity over 1400m. Should get cover from this draw and is a place hope.

Has a good bit of talent and is very fit. Not far away when battling 4th to Too Darn Lizzie and Zeitung in the Gr 2 Guineas Prelude then last start again was running on when 5th and beaten just 2 lengths by Zeitung over 1400m. Extra trip should suit. Place.

Improving with racing. Was up on speed all the way, then shot away to win Kembla maiden easily over 1400m in slow time. This is much harder but obviously can run.

Could be a bit of a dark horse here. The pace will be on all the way and she will drop back, conserving energy, but she will charge late. This is just her 3rd start and is bred for the trip. Last start rattled home from a mile back in a fast run Stakes race over 1400m behind Catoggio, beaten just under 2 lengths. Have in your numbers.
