1. Private Eye (10)
Interesting galloper this year. Was 2nd in this race in fast time three years ago. Resumes here. Likes to run hard while fresh and this is his pet trip. But, is he a little passed it? Hmm, I think he settles back about 6th with cover then comes hard. Have in your numbers.

2. Rothfire (17)
Grand campaigner and the hope of the local side. Started $41 and turned back the clock last start when he hit the line hard for 2nd in the Gr 1 Doomben 10,000 over 1200m. That was on a heavy track. He’s 3rd up now, has Jay Mac to steer so everything says he’s a hope here. But, very bad draw may hinder his hopes.

Ready to Fire
3. Desert Lightning (1)
Lumped 61kg into 2nd spot last week in the Listed Spear Chief over 1500m coming home along the inside which was by far the slowest part of the track. This is harder though. Quick back up suits and is now fitter. Definite danger.

4. Kimochi (14)
5. Yellow Brick (8)
Has raced at this track on 6 occasions for 4 wins and 2 placings. And loves this trip. Was, however, soundly beaten last start when 11th to War Machine giving him 3.5kg. Doesn’t seem to be racing well this prep.

Track Talent
6. Golden Mile (2)
On form, he looks very hard to beat. Sat back near last and rattled home for 3rd 2 starts back, in Gr 2, then perfectly ridden, sat on speed last week in the mud when beaten a nose by the superstar Joliestar in the Gr 1 Kingsford-Smith Cup over 1300m. Is super fit and drawn to receive a glorious run. Huge threat.

7. War Machine (13)
Up in class here but is the form horse. Won past 2 starts, including very impressive victory last start at Doomben in the Gr 3 BRC Sprint by nearly 3 lengths. Carried 56.5kg that day. Won this trip start prior and is bound to be in this finish.

8. Payline (7)
Flashed home 2 starts back from last on bend when 3rd in the gr 1 Doomben 10,000. That run was a career highlight. Struck himself as he left the gates last week and mind wasn’t on the job when beaten 6 lengths into 9th behind Joliestar. Totally different affair here and should be running on.

Good on Soft
9. Punch Lane (21)
Pretty much has only one option from this bad gate. And, that is to charge and lead. If he finds the front without using any gas or being challenged mid race, he might take a power of beating. Had led all way previous 2 starts and won easily both times, including the Hawkesbury Cup over a mile. Keep safe.

Good on Soft
10. Front Page (20)
Showed so much class and fight last weekend when he sat on speed and was too solid late winning the Gr 2 Moreton Cup over 1200m. It was a slow track adding to the effort. Has never won this trip though and will have to be used up early from this draw going hard early. May be found wanting over the final 125m.

11. Robusto (19)
Has done nothing but improve over the years. Resumes here and first up form in the past has been handy but this is Gr 1 level. On his day he can run a very fast 1400m. Won 2 trials in impressive fashion recently. Nicely weighted but badly drawn. Could sneak a place at big odds.

Good on Soft
12. Far Too Easy (9)
Won’t know himself with this tiny weight and is 3rd up here. Ran very fast time with 59kg last October at Randwick over 1200m to win the Kosciuszko. Last start finished hard when 2nd to War Machine in the Gr 3 BRC Sprint. Meets that horse who will be very heavily supported, 3kg better and is fitter now. Big threat.

13. Rise At Dawn (3)
Well weighted for this. Likes to bowl along in front but will have company so that may dampen his enthusiasm to finish the race off hard. Has a lot of talent though. Even 5th to Joliestar when resuming last start in the Gr 1. Place.

14. The Instructor (12)
Is another go-forward horse who is in career-best form. Led all the way to narrowly knock over War Machine at Listed level in Adelaide. Last start drew poorly sat wide with lead yet still won albeit narrowly the Listed Luskin Star over 1300m. Interesting to see with this light weight if he can lead these quicksters but on form has to be considered.

Proven Winner
15. Bosustow (11)
Lightweight with a definite hope. Is 3rd up here and is Gr 1 placed. May be a length or so behind the best of these but he is very honest and will run home well.

Place Performer
16. The Inflictor (6)
Has been racing very well but in much easier grade. Still, he did carry 61kg to an easy win at Doomben in a BM 85 last start on a wet track. Drops 10kg here and is in form. Can place.

Proven Winner
18. Spicy Martini (4)
Up in grade here but is just the kind of horse to appeal here. Has won 4 from her 6 starts to date including last start when ridden off speed and finished hard to claim the Gr 3 Fred Best over 1350m. Looks like the trip will suit and has drawn perfectly so probably sits about 5th to the bend. Light weight is a help.

19. Coleman (Em1) (23)
Is twice Gr 1 placed and last start after being out of form, showed he was back when a solid finishing 3rd in the Listed Qld Day stakes. Trip isn’t a concern and he drops 7kg for this. If he is back, he’s a place show.

Place Performer
20. Transatlantic (Em2) (22)
If he gets a start he is a player. Can run very fast time this trip and is in peak form. Carried 4.5kg less than Desert Lightning last start but did beat him comfortably and meets him only 1kg worse. Probably drops back to get cover but can run on. Would be fitting if he won as he’s by Snitzel who sadly passed away during the week. Keep safe.

21. Waterford (Em3) (18)
Found form in weaker Wyong The lakes over 1600m then freshened and ran on well for eye-catching 6th to Libertad over 1200m last start. This is harder but drops 7.5kg!

Likes Dry Track
22. Pier (Em4) (15)
If he starts he can jag a place. Kiwi sprinter with a powerful finishing burst and can run on all track surfaces. Rattled home from 16th on bend at Doomben last start when 3rd to War Machine carrying more weight than the winner. Will love this longer straight.
-
Ready to Fire
23. Warnie (Em5) (5)
Is 3rd up but may not gain a start. Is racing well in weaker grade but this should test. Made up ground when 3rd to Front page last start and is 3rd up.
