1. Antrim Coast (6)
Interesting Kiwi who has future Melb Cup contender written all over him. Was beaten 7 lengths in a low key 1600m 3YO race then went into the Gr 2 Avondale guineas as a $139 chance. Was beaten 10 lengths by Orchestral in that race. Two weeks later again was an outsider at $157 when he fronted up in the 2400m NZ Derby and some how ran the race of his life running 2nd to Orchestral. Came to Australia, won the $500k gr 2 Alistair Clarke over 2040m then last start beaten a nose over 2400m. Clearly can stay, is improving every run and is in super form. Big chance.

2. Sunsets (3)
Can stay but has been beaten twice rather comfortably in recent starts by Antrim Coast so may struggle late in this. Place at best.

3. Air Assault (13)
Is the one carrying the hopes of the locals. Is trained here and has won 3 of past 4 starts at this track, 2 at stakes level. Likes to lead and the trip seems his biggest worry here. led and run down on the line over 2000m last week in the Gr 3 Chairmans by Bold Soul. Will give your cash a great site for a long way.

4. Bold Soul (12)
Looks the one to beat. Is already a derby winner taking out the Tassie Derby 2200m in February. Gets back and runs home very hard as he did last start here last week when 8th for home he flew late to win the 2000m Gr 3 Chairmans beating Just Berrilliant and Air assault. Is fitter now and loves this trip.

5. Gold Wolf (1)
Classy stayer who rates highly. Was beaten a nose by the smart Bold Soul in the Tas Derby over 2200m and last start came with a powerful late burst to win the Listed 2400m at Caulfield beating Antrim Coast. Did carry 2kg less than him last start but clearly can stay. Big show.

Ready to Fire
6. Glad You Think So (15)
Can stay and last start led on a very heavy track the Gr 1 ATC Derby field for about 2250m before the best 3YO in the land Riff Rocket ran past him. Ended up 3rd and this is a few lengths easier. but, that was early April. Will have company in the lead early this time. Can stay and he can sit behind speed if needed. At his best he’s a big player.

7. Warmonger (14)
Has loads of talent but can he run a strong 2400m? Flew home from worse than midfield to fail by a nostril behind Air assault here over 1800m beating Bold Soul home. Then last start tables were flipped when Bold Soul beat him comfortably in the Gr 3 Chairmans. Again made ground. Poorly drawn so has to go right back early. place show.

8. Outovstock (18)
Rising kiwi star who is just out of maiden grade. Last start tossed in the deep end yet responded perfectly when winning the Gr 3 Manawatu Classic over 2100m easily. Seems staying his go and as such must be considered. Not sure where he gets early as the draw is horrid.

9. A Samurai Mind (5)
is lightly raced and has staying talent which he showed last start when narrowly beaten in a BM 80 over 1950m. This is yet another step up in class but he looks like a stayer of the future.

10. Shinjuku (2)
Won pakenham BM 64 coming from midfield over a mile then was thrust into stakes grade where he has finished just behind the placegetters in both starts, latest last week when beaten 1.5 lengths by Bold soul in the be 3 Chairmans. This again looks a bit steep.

11. Just Berrilliant (7)
May be thrown in the deep end a bit here as he has had just 3 race starts but seems to have enormous talent. Easily won a pakenham maiden over a mile in the mud then last start at $81 was beaten just half a length in the Gr 3 Chairmans last week over 2000m by Bold soul. In that race, he finished in front of a good few of these and was running on. Certainly is fitter now.

12. Tulsa King (17)
Yet another Pakenham mile maiden winner who has since performed well in stakes grade as indicated last week when an eye-catching 4th in the chairmans over 2000m. Is getting better with racing and this trip looks to suit also. Place show.

13. Steel Blaze (8)
Sydney stayer with some talent. Has been racing in strong group races of late and finishing just behind the placegetters. Last start here last week was beaten just on a length by Bold Soul in the Chaitrmans ov er 2000m. Is very fit and looks like he can stay this right out. Rough place show.

14. Warialda Warrior (16)
Was $101 when a plugging 8th last year in the Gr 1 VRC Derby over 2500m. Since has very easily won a bush BM 64 over a mile and last start beaten just under 2 lengths when 8th in the Chairmans over 2000m here last week. Can stay but may be a length or so behind the better ones at this level.

15. Coco Sun (10)
Top class staying filly who made us all sit up and take notice last week when she finished it off hard after being on speed all the way late and was 3rd in the Gr 1 Oaks over 2000m here. was 5th in the VRC Oaks over 2500m at Gr 1 level last spring. Big danger.

16. Ahuriri (11)
Extra smart filly who can run all day. Easily won the 2800m St leger at Flemington last start. Interesting to see where she gets to from this gate but I suspect because she is so fit, she goes forward looking to get in about 5th early. If so, she is a major player in this.

17. Zakouma (4)
maiden galloper after 4 starts but has talent as he showed last start when at $51 he was on speed all the way and a close-up 4th to Gold Wolf. this is harder but he is improving every start and has a great draw.

18. Maputo (19)
scored over 2000m at maiden level at Pakenham b efore taking on stakes grade at next 2 starts, latest when 5th in the St leger over 2800m. Only a rough place show here as draw is horrid.
