1. Broadsiding (9)
Is the best of his cohort but is he a genuine Gr 1 stayer? No is the answer. However, he has grit and guts and more speed than all these so he should be able to park up about 5th with cover, in the running line, then out-kick these late. There won’t be much in the tank at the end but his heart will get him home.

2. Goldrush Guru (7)
Now, on the other hand, this colt can stay and is the easy winner of the Gr 1 VRC Derby over 2500m. His 3 starts this time in have been full of merit particularly his latest when finishing hard for 3rd in the Gr 1 Australian Guineas over a mile. Is cherry ripe for this and did bolt in last prep in stakes grade over 1800m. Very hard to beat.

3. Swiftfalcon (4)
Is 3rd up here and is getting closer to a stunning Gr 1 win at every start. Was beaten out of a place at only run this trip but does appear a better horse this time up. Less than a length away behind Linebacker and Broadsiding last start in the Gr 1 Randwick Guineas over a mile. If Tyler Schiller can time his run just right he will go very close.

4. Checkmate (3)
Star Kiwi 3YO who runs like this trip will suit although has NEVER raced this far. Is very consistent at stakes level back in NZ and whenever a NZer comes here this time of year they perform well so best to have in your numbers.

5. Plymouth (2)
Extra smart Victorian youngster who led and was run down over 1400m when resuming then last start was beaten 3 lengths in the Gr 1 Australian Guineas. The doubt is over his ability at this level to run a strong 2000m. And I think he looks tested late.

6. Savour The Dream (10)
Qld star who carried big weights to win two low-key handicaps over a mile then went to Melbourne and found out what Gr 1 racing was all about when 11th in the Australian Guineas. This should test also.

7. Our Benefactor (5)
Star Qld galloper who won 3 on the bounce in handicap races before taking on the Gr 1 Randwick Guineas and finishing nearly 6 lengths behind Broadsiding and Linebacker. Looks like he might stay but a rough place hope is all I can give him.

8. Kosuke (11)
Has talent but this level will find him out. Was beaten in a Taree maiden last August and last start was 2nd in a BM 64 at Hawkesbury. No.

9. Majorca Sunset (6)
Handy type who is improving every start, his maiden win at Warwick Farm last start over a mile indicates that but this is 10 lengths superior so not keen.

10. Bernen Win (8)
has talent. Woin a Nowra maiden over 1600m on soft ground in Feb then transferred stables. Latest run was 4th in a handily run 1600m Midway. This should test but keep him safe for another day in weaker grade.

11. Aeliana (1)
Top class filly. Is a multiple Gr 3 winner, has beaten subsequent Gr 1 winners and has had 2 great runs since resuming, first when 3rd to Broadsiding and Swiftfalcon in the 1400m Hobartville, and last start when 4th to them and Linebacker in the Gr 1 Randwick Guineas. Trip here is the biggest worry but she is on her home patch and is now very fit. Should run a bold race.
