1. Dubai Honour (13)
If it is damp or even soft, he’s the one to beat. Is an exceptional racehorse who stormed home to claim the Gr 1 Tancred in stunning style last start over 2400m. And must strip fitter for this. Did win this race 2 years ago and seems as good today. Huge hope.

Good on Soft
2. Rousham Park (12)
Outstanding Japanese galloper who has already attracted some big bets. And has one of the worlds best riders on board, his only ride of the meet. But, looking through his form, he is good this trip and has run some super fast times, however seems about a length or two only better than say Geoglyph who we saw in the Gr 1 Doncaster last week get thrashed. I’m not convinced he is as good as the best of these.

3. Light Infantry Man (11)
May just be the dark horse here as he is in form and last start’s easy Gr 1 Australian Cup win over Deny Knowledge was done so in very fast time over this trip. Handles it damp too and no doubt goes forward from this outside draw. Probably lands in the one one and gets a great run. Has claims.

4. Ceolwulf (15)
Star galloper who has won multiple Gr 1 races and is in supreme form. Won the $5m King Charles here in Oct running down Pride Of Jenni who won this race brilliantly last year. Latest start was on a heavy track when a narrow winner of the Gr 2 Sellwood this trip. Certain to be running home hard.

5. Tom Kitten (5)
Is capable of winning and has to be considered despite what looked like only an average effort last week in the Gr 1 Doncaster when 7th to Stefi Magnetica beaten half a length. Seemed to have every chance in the straight and was finishing well so trip suits here. The WFA scale may not. Too good to leave out though as he did win the All-Star Mile from Mr Brightside and Light Infantry Man.

6. Vauban (14)
Where does he get to in the run? My guess is he drops back looking for cover. Resumed from spell with a gutsy Gr 3 win over this trip beating home Lindermann then came from midfield when 3rd to Dubai Honour in Gr 1 Tancred last start. Back 400m here and up in class but he is super fit now. Place. Is very good if wet.

Good on Soft
7. Buckaroo (3)
Beaten a nose by Via Sistina in the Gr 1 Turnbull this trip last year before an unlucky 2nd as topweight in the Gr 1 Caulfield Cup, then didn’t stay the trip when a plodding 9th in ther Melbourne Cup. Resumed from spell with a good 9th, beaten just on 2 lengths by Gringotts in the 1500m George Ryder at Gr 1 level where he couldn’t get a run at them. Is dynamic 2nd up which he is here but this field is outstanding.

Ready to Fire
8. Lindermann (7)
Will go forward and lead these a merry dance. Is supremely fit from his 4 starts this time up two of them at Gr 1 level, and the other pair at Gr 2 level. He has placed in all of them, latest when 2nd to Via Sistina beaten 1.5 lengths in the Gr 1 Ranvet. Is very honest but they will come at him late.

9. Fawkner Park (6)
Will be at big odds but he is 3rd up here and latest run was eye-catching 3rd at WFA in the Gr 1 Ranvet behind Via Sistina. Loves this journey and can run fast time. Place though as it is a world class field.

10. Middle Earth (9)
British star who beat the Caulfield Cup winner Duke de Sessa at Aussie debut in Aust Cup prelude this journey, then in the Gr 1 Australian Cup, was doing best work late when 5th to Light Infantry Man. This may be a bit too hard, although is 3rd up and should be peaking.

11. Geoglyph (2)
Disappointed in the Gr 1 Donaster last start. Sat out the back, was out in plenty of time, made a 75m dash then plodded remainder of race finishing near last start. Can’t win this off that run.

12. Via Sistina (1)
Is the darling and champion of Australian racing. Has won 6 of her last 8 starts, most of them at Gr 1 level and just keeps finding a way to crush her rivals. Won the Gr 1 Cox Plate last year by 8 lengths. Drawn to get the perfect run in about 5th on the fence and is supremely fit. Must be the favourite.

Proven Winner
14. Deny Knowledge (10)
Good quality Gr 1 winning mare who was a great 2nd in fast time in the Gr 1 Australian Cup this trip last start behind Light Infantry Man. Is 3rd up now and should go forward from gate rise and be with Lindermann or in front of him for a good way. This is very strong but she is in form.

15. Full Count Felicia (4)
North American star whose only run here was a solid 4th to Via Sistina after leading in the Gr 1 Ranvet. In Canada, did a Pride Of Jenni when she took off mid-race and led by 20 lengths before hanging on to win the Gr 1 EP Taylor over this trip by nearly 4 lengths. From this gate she should press forward and be in front of at least in box seat all the way.
