1. Kalapour (22)
Grand old stager who won the WFA Tancred over this trip earlier this year. Has been fitted by two solid runs in lead-up races and gets his chance here. Will probably go forward from this horror draw and sit up in about 3rd spot. is tough and is ready to fire up.

Ready to Fire
2. Military Mission (1)
Is trained here but hasn’t won for a while and two starts this time up have been pretty average. Goes better this trip but sneaking a place at big odds is about his best hope. Does like it wet.

Good on Soft
3. Serpentine (18)
Drawn poorly but he will scoot across from the gate and find the lead, probably before they even hit the post for the first time. If he can get into his own rhythm he is a player. Was 4th in the Sydney Cup over 3200m earlier this year. Can stay all day and if he gets his own way in the front he will take beating.

Ready to Fire
4. Que Tempesta (12)
This bloke may the one to beat. Loves to stay and last win was in Italy over 2400m in Gr 2 company. Is a dab hand if the track is wet too. Is 3rd up here. Latest was good 6th, beaten less than 3 lengths behind Positivity in Gr 3 over 2000m. Looks ideally placed and should find a nice spot about midfield. Looms large especially if track is soft.

Good on Soft
5. Alegron (5)
Good, solid stayer who won the 3200m Brisbane Cup earlier this year.Plugging effort in fast run 2000m when resuming last start behind Eliyass. Can run on wet track and could sneak a place here.

Good on Soft
6. Cleveland (19)
Has not beaten a runner home in past 3 starts and this looks too rich.

Likes Dry Track
7. Athabascan (9)
Was well supported and ran home well when 2nd in the gr 1 Sydney Cup earlier this year over 3200m. Both runs from spell have been handy and suggest he might be ready to run on gamely here. Goes well this trip. Place.

Ready to Fire
8. Trust In You (14)
Kiwi stayer who started $201 last start when beaten 10 lengths by Eliyass in Gr 3. Totally different here but would need to lift a fair bit.
-
Good on Soft
10. Zardozi (10)
Got up along the inside after a nice ride when 5th to Eliyass last start. Is a Gr 1 winner this trip. Is now 4th up into this so is ready. And if it rains she should nearly win. Big threat.

Good on Soft
11. Future History (3)
Looks one of the main chances. Both starts this time up have been very good, latest when on speed and a good 2nd under 55.5kg in the Gr 3 Naturalism at Caulfield over 2000m. Fitter now and likely to press forward and find a good spot.

In Form
13. Etna Rosso (13)
Now that he’s fully settled into the Aussie way of doing things he seems to be thriving. Finished hard to impressively win the 2300m Newcastle Cup under 54kg from Wycliff. This is harder but the way he chimed in suggests he is ready to be right in this.

Proven Winner
14. Land Legend (7)
Won the 2600m St Leger here by a big space last prep and his 2 starts this time up suggest he is on track to run a blinder here too. Comes in very well at the weights. The last start was beaten 5 lengths in the Gr 3 Kingston Town behind Eliyass. Can run all day.
-
Ready to Fire
15. First Light (2)
Couldn’t have been more impressive exploding down the outside and winning good lead up race last start. Talented, but at times in and out stayer, however, on his day he is a danger as he can come home hard. Chance as he has drawn impeccably.

18. Wyclif (20)
Circled the field with 600m to go, hit the front after being last early, then was gunned down near the post when 2nd in the Newcastle cup. Can stay but did die on his run late in that 2300m race. Place show.

19. Immediacy (21)
Is ready to run a big one although barrier draw means he will have to drop right out the back early. And in a big field that means conceding a huge start. But, he can stay. Was 5th in the Gr 1 ATC Derby earlier this year and is 3rd up in this. No weight and could really rocket late.
-
Ready to Fire
20. Strathtay (11)
Solid stayer who is very fit coming off a pair of 3rds in stakes races latest when beaten over 3 lengths by First light at level weights. May be a yard to two inferior to the better ones here but is honest.
-
Good on Soft
21. Unusual Legacy (4)
Is hoping to be aimed at the Cups and is in form, albeit in weaker grade. Drops 8kg here following a narrow loss last week to Firestorm in a BM 88. Is fit and does hit the line very hard so may surprise a few with how close he finishes.

22. Matusalem (8)
Interesting player here. Has won 3 of past 4 starts and is making his way through the grades rather impressively. And, can run time which is a great indicator. carried 59kg in a BM 78 but ran a fast time to easily win over 2400m last start. is supremely fit, has drawn perfectly and is in form. May pay to have in your numbers.
