1. Mr Brightside (4)
What a terrific horse. He has a record to envy and he has run very, very fast time here over this trip. He is also the defending champ having won this race last year from Princess Grace and I Wish I Win. He has drawn perfectly too. Now, last prep Pride Of Jenni had his measure when they met. Will that play into his psyche here? Probably to a degree but I suspect he is primed for a very robust effort. Must quinella with the mare.

2. Aegon (1)
Clasy galloper who will strip a lot fitter for his exciting fast-finishing 4th, beaten less than a length in the 1400m Gr 2 Lawrence last start behind Gentleman Roy. Will get back and run on. Has place claims.

3. Gentleman Roy (8)
Interesting entry. Stablemate to Mr Brightside and he likes to lead. Has won his past three races, latest when on speed and narrow winner over Pinstriped in the Gr 2 Lawrence over this trip in nice time. Sure to go out after Pride Of Jenni setting it up for Mr Brightside to flash late. Is he capable of winning – probably not but his presence makes for a great contest.

4. Bandersnatch (2)
Handy type and this is his pet trip. But, he’s not a Gr 1 horse and while he will strip fitter following his strong 4th first-up to Arkansaw Kid over 1200m, this should test in the final 100m.

5. Pinstriped (3)
Good horse on his day and looks back to his best if his first-up 2nd to Gentleman Roy is anything to go be. He came home hard from a long way back. Loves this trip but has been thrashed by both Mr Brightside and Pride Of Jenni when they’ve met previously. Has a very good 2nd up record though. Place at best.

6. Antino (6)
Is a hit-and-miss type but what he does have is an extremely potent first-up strike rate. Now, saying that he’s in a tough Gr 1. Is all the way down from Queensland for this so connections feel he has a chance. Was beaten 6 lengths last start when 12th in the Gr 1 Stradbroke. Place show.

Place Performer
7. Pride Of Jenni (7)
If she returns like she went out she wins comfortably. Has extraordinary early and mid-race speed and that breaks others’ hearts. Her last 5 starts she has had Mr Brightside in against her. She has whipped him 4 times and lost when beaten a nostril by him this trip. No doubt leads and even though Gentleman Roy will commit racing suicide by taking her on, she should simply be too swift for these.

Ready to Fire
8. Vagrant (5)
Good honest mare who has won at Gr 3 level however at her past two starts she has been beaten by horses who cannot hold a candle to Pride Of Jenni or Mr Brightside. So, no.
