Gr 1 Memsie Stakes

Grand old warrior up against a field the likes of which he’s beaten ad nauseum. Has age finally caught up with him? Hmmm, maybe not given he just placed in a recent jump out and behind him was Giga Kick. Is a 9 year old now but overnight money suggests he still has sufficient vigour for this. Has won $18.8million so far!

Had a winter campaign and it took him a good few runs to show his best, and even then, while racing home strongly, he didn’t win a race. This is very strong. Normally he would rate very highly, and after 2 recent trials where he ran well, he probably still will. But, I have a lingering a doubt. So place at best for me.

Did win a Gr 3 over this trip when resuming last prep in fast time. Always shows up in these events and is a gun while fresh. Has the rails draw so sits about 4th on the fence, smoking his pipe and coiled, ready to strike. Bound to be in the finish. Has won over $7million thus far.

Rarely wins but is first class and on his day he can swamp these. May get a tad too far back here first up but will be running on.

Interesting galloper. Comes into this fitter than most having run a good race first up in sprint event last start. Can run home hard and should receive a very cushy run here. Watch for him late.

Outstanding stayer resuming here. Is on a Cups campaign so may need this outing.

Is very smart and very fit. Won a Gr 3 when resuming then last start on a soft track, stormed home to win a Gr 2 over this trip. Harder here but he is super fit, his confidence is high and is sure to be running on. Major player.

Smart galloper on his day, improving all the time and is very solid while fresh. But, this is Gr 1 at WFA and that may just prove a length or so too good for him.

Super galloper who has drawn to get the run of the race. Bona fide Gr 1 performer resuming here. Jay Mac flies down for the ride which is a very solid indication that it’s all systems go. Will prove very hard to beat and I suspect they will come for him.

I like him here. Is very fast and if they leave him alone in front mid stages, he will burn them all. If there is money in the market for him, get on.

Very smart and interesting to see how he goes in this top grade field. Has placed twice at Gr 1 level. Is fresh here and drawn well. Place at big odds.

Terrific mare who must be respected. Sat just off the speed in this race last year when resuming and finished hard to win from Mr Brightside. Is a genuine Gr 1 horse and is great fresh. Bound to be in the finish again here.
