1. Jimmysstar (15)
Star on his day, and can win this. Has not won in 4 starts this time out, however, but each run has been promising and suggestive of better success. Take last start where he made good ground late to just miss a place behind Rothfire in the Gr 1 Doomben 10,000. Extra trip here suits a great deal. One more chance.

2. Rothfire (8)
How did he win the Gr 1 last start? It was a turn-back-the-clock moment alright as he sat wide, covered ground, was 2nd up, yet stormed down the centre of the track and won comfortably. This is no harder either. And he has placed twice in this race from 2 attempts in the past. He is fitter now and if he repeats that effort last start he wins easily. But, his form is inconsistent so take on trust. Does LOVE this time of year though.

3. Private Eye (2)
Another old timer with loads of talent still. Has won $12 million in prizemoney and doesn’t mind it wet. has won twice on a heavy track. Resumed and ran his heart out when close 3rd to Mazu. Fitter now, has won 2nd up in the past and loves this time of year. Has to be considered.

4. Another Wil (11)
Always a little wide when resuming in the 10,000 and was doing best work late. Is up to this and now fitter rates higher. If he sits closer to the fence he can produce a solid finish. Place.

5. Desert Lightning (7)
Stormed home to win Gr 1 in Adelaide last start at big odds. And this is certainly within his wheelhouse as that was 1200m and he prefers this trip. Has a great gate here also. His wet track form is outstanding also. Many things point to him running a very big race.

6. Sepals (19)
Mixes his form a bit but is a threat if he runs to his best. Bad gate here will not help. Has run enormously in the past when not expected to. Place.

7. Transatlantic (5)
Gr 1 winner over a mile and is a genuine racehorse, the type that always puts in. Has won 4 races at this track and has won over this trip. Is 2nd up here following a nice 4th over 1200m. Drawn perfectly and likes it wet. Has claims.

8. Headley Grange (4)
Has been freshened for this and he races at his best when fresh. Will be big odds but he warrants a great deal of respect because he is a dab hand in the wet and will get a glorious run throughout. Rates a strong place hope as he can finish hard.

Good on Soft
9. Yellow Brick (17)
Badly drawn but is a very interesting runner. Won the $1million Archer when resuming this trip last start. This is a few lengths harder, but, he still rates highly because: 1) he loves this track – 7 starts, 4 wins and 3 x 2nds. He also is a mudlark when it is wet, and he goes very well this trip. I think he runs a huge race.

Track Talent
10. King Of Roseau (21)
Bad draw but he tends to ease out early so may not prove an issue. and his style of racing will suit this track. Is in a purple patch of form of late, carrying big weights and running very fast times. Clocked a time over 1400m that is as good as anything in this when winning Magic millions Cup, then spelled, won again, spelled and resumed under 60kg with a stunning 1.08.6 win over 1200m. That type of performing cannot be overlooked. Has strong claims.

Proven Winner
11. Linebacker (3)
Should get a great run but may not be up to this. was heavily supported this trip in Sydney last start and was 3rd in a weaker race. Not keen.

12. Fangirl (16)
Beaten just under 3 lengths when resuming last start in 1400m Gr 1. They ran astonishing time that day and she was working home well. Has a great 2nd up record and has won $10million in prizemoney. May find it tough getting in from this draw but on her day she is capable of swamping these. Watch betting.

13. Skybird (13)
Last early and ran home moderately well behind Rothfire in Gr 1 last start, beaten 4 lengths. This is harder. Not keen.

14. Splash Back (10)
Good, honest mare who is in form. Thunders home late in her races and the trip here suits. Won over 1200m in the Gr 2 Victory Stakes easily last start in the mud and sure to be doing best work late. Place.

15. Manaal (9)
Form is strong and consistent in group races, but she nearly always races against her own sex. mind you, her Gr 1 win was over 1400m on a heavy track and was against the boys too. Just think she may struggle late in this.

Good on Soft
16. Napoleonic (14)
Resumed from spell last start in the Gr 1 Doomben 10,000 and burst through the centre late for a great 3rd behind Rothfire. Is very consistent and should strip fitter in this. Probably enjoys a nice run one off the fence midfield, but, doesn’t have great wet track stats. Place.

Likes Dry Track
17. Von Hauke (Em1) (12)
Has talent but does like it a bit longer. Won an easier mile race last start. Not expected to worry these.

18. Grafterburners (Em2) (18)
Dual acceptor who lost a lot of admirers last start when on pace early but wilted late in the 10,000. was beaten a long way. Has never won beyond 1200m and doesn’t like it wet. Probably runs in the other race as this looks too hard.

19. Sixties (Em3) (20)
Exciting type. Group winner and a Gr 1 placegetter who resumes here. may be a bit of a smokey as he’s solid while fresh and has won on a heavy track. Place.
-
Good on Soft
20. Zou Sensation (Em4) (1)
Has run some really nice races and doesn’t mind it damp but by and large his form is against slightly weaker grade. Beaten out of a place in weaker race last start.
-

21. Wodeton (Em5) (6)
Gifted but mixes form. Is a dual acceptor. If he runs, he can win but is equally at home finishing down the course. Bet with caution.
