- (1600 M)
- October 19, 2024
1. Pericles (5)
Goes well this track, is good at this trip, is very fit and is racing well. Drawn to get the drop on this very fast pace that will come. Rates well because he likes it wet too.

Good on Soft
2. My Oberon (8)
Meets both Ceolwulf and Tom Kitten half a kilo better than last start in the Gr 1 Epsom when both of them beat him home comfortably. Does go well when track is wet and will relish this fast tempo. Was only half a length behind Fangirl at WFA start prior. Place show.

3. Lion's Roar (6)
Is racing in career-best form. Carried big weight and came hard to win recent Wyong Cup over 2100m. This is obviously much harder but he’s trained here and goes very well this track. Has handy wet track form. Place show at big odds.

4. Major Beel (10)
Led with no weight and was run over late in the Gr 1 Epsom here this trip last start. On that run he can’t win this. Likes to lead and wont find the front at any stage with Pride Of Jenni in the race. Not keen.
5. New Energy (7)
Gets back and runs on ok but really, has won just one race from 16 starts and this is hardest event he’s ever been in. No thanks.

6. Ceolwulf (2)
Peaking at the right time. Finished like a train to win the Gr 1 Epsom this trip last start beating a few of these comfortably. Drawn to get a great run and just needs to get out in time. Fast pace will suit. Goes up 4kg on last start win but is flying at present. Doesn’t like it wet though.

7. Celestial Legend (1)
This is the dark horse of the field. Is 3rd up here, absolutely loves this trip and track – has won 2 x Gr 1 races here over the mile – and is a swimmer on wet tracks. Been set impossible tasks at past 2 starts yet still ran home well both times, latest when beaten just over 2 lengths in the Gr 2 Shannon over 1500m. Will love this fast tempo and should be flying home late.

8. Tom Kitten (12)
Top class on his day and rates highly. Travelled wide throughout and came hard late for 2nd to Ceolwulf last start here in Gr 1 Epsom this trip. Is suited by this tempo and is very fit. Bound to be running on hard at the end.

9. Pride Of Jenni (11)
Loves this track and is back in form. Will go out hard and lead by a big margin as she always does. Did that last start to land the Gr 2 Feehan at the Valley beating Mr Brightside and subsequent Gr 1 winner Antino easily. Won the Gr 1 Queen Elizabeth over 2000m by a big margin here back in April. Looks the winner again.

10. Fangirl (4)
Top-class mare who loves this track and trip. Showed that with a powerful burst from last to claim the 7 Stakes over My Oberon in good time running sub 33sec last 600m which is flying. Has raced Pride Of Jenni once and couldn’t reel her in over a mile in Gr 1 Cantala at Flemington. Should be different circumstances back in Sydney but will be giving the champ a big head start as they turn for home.

11. Zougotcha (3)
Interesting runner. is a multiple Gr 1 winner and has won at a mile here at Gr 1 level. Great first-up 2nd to Via Sistina in the Gr 1 Winx Stakes over 1400m but weakened out of it last start when on speed over a mile behind Fangirl. What really appeals is that loves it wet. Can place.

12. Amelia's Jewel (9)
Very interesting runner. Has run both a 1200m and a 1400m faster than all of these in her past. Is 3rd up here and last start made solid ground when 2nd in the Gr 2 Gold Pendent over 1400m. This is harder but on her day she is a real star. Has won up to 1800m and her 2 wins at this trip were both at Gr 2 level, the latest when running down two speed superstars in Deny Knowledge and – Pride Of Jenni – running record time at The Valley. Respect.
