1. Berzelius (5)
Has had 3 starts for 2 wins and has given the impression every run that this trip will suit. Started at $36 last start in the Gr 1 Sires’ over 1400m, but came with a powerhouse run late to claim the top prize. Sure to be running home hard here.

2. Martist (12)
Backed off the map at debut and won over 1200 and has been boomed ever since. Hasn’t won in all 3 runs while boomed, but did run home hard for a good 3rd to Berzelius in the Gr 2 Sires’. May be overlooked here by many, but not me. Has claims.

3. Silken Salute (8)
I suspect he’s a few lengths better than his plodding 6th in the Sires’ last start. Got a long way back and wide and only plugged on. Previous form first rate so don’t dismiss.

4. Tron Bolt (9)
Looks yet another one of these Waller trained midweek runners who emerge as Gr 1 stars after wintering and racing in Qld. On debut up here but his 2 previous starts were wins in Sydney. Looks the testing material.

Proven Winner
5. Stormy Marco (2)
Got a long way back and bogged down on the wet track when beaten into 8th in the Sires’ here. Better for the run and the journey here probably suits him more. Has claims.

6. Kickup Rocky (6)
Finally draws a decent gate and will run one heck of a race. Started $12 and won a midweeker here over 1300m coming from a mile back and last start was wide all the way in the Sires’ and was $91 at one stage in that race. But, showed heart winding up 4th. Trip poses no threat and with a decent run looms large.

7. Macedon Mission (11)
Good Ipswich maiden winner then tossed into the Sires’ last start and was well back all the way. This is similar.

8. Cormier (4)
Coming along nicely and may be very smart. Lightly raced but watch market as he is well bred, has talent and ready to run lights out.

9. Glenorchy (13)
Drawn awkwardly but there is a strong whisper around that he is pretty smart. Is a maiden still after 2 starts but was stakes placed last start when backed and ran home well. Chance.

10. Heatstroke (3)
Is handy. Has had 2 starts for 2 Sydney placings, latest when 3rd, carrying 1.5kg less weight than Tron Bolt. That may be a strong race so has place claims.

11. Dream Roca (1)
Good local filly on her day but her best appears to be in shorter races. Not keen.

Good on Soft
12. Voynichese (10)
After a couple of pipe-opening sprint races she was stepped out to 1500m and stormed home to win the Listed Phoenix. This is harder but she won that race with authority and trip looks no concern.

13. Vanzadee (7)
Handy but isn’t up to Gr 1 level. Thrashed last start in the 1500m Phoenix.
