1. Charm Stone (6)
She could not have been more impressive last start finishing brilliantly down the centre of the track to claim the Gr 1 Robert Sangster this trip in fast time easing down. Has an imposing 2nd up record too and looks back to her best. Which means she is right in this finish. However, she was ridden by Mark Zahra last start and he got off and was glowing in his praise. Yet, he has chosen to ride Giga Kick in this. Hmmm… he may regret that decision.

2. Climbing Star (3)
Ran 3rd in this race last year, two weeks after winning the Gr 1 Robert Sangster. This year, is 3rd up and ready to run a big race. Was well supported but didn’t get a good crack at them late when beaten 5 lengths behind Charm Stone last start. Expect improvement.

3. Sghirripa (13)
Is a definite knock out hope. Led and was run down late in the Gr 3 Irwin over 1100m here by Asfoora. Did beat Climbing Star home. Won a trial impressively last week. Ready to run a blinder.

Good on Soft
4. Watchme Win (2)
Has only raced 10 times but is showing a great deal of promise and is improving every start. Was $15 and was beaten just over a length in the Gr 3 Irwin over 1100m then next start easily won the 1100m Hawkes stakes running faster time. Can sneak a place here.

Proven Winner
5. Sir Sway (4)
Interesting runner. Is fast and strong and on the improve. Has run some very quick times in the past but is he a length or so behind the best here. Was 2nd all the way last start in the Railway over 1100m at Oakbank. This is a little harder.

6. Stretan Angel (1)
Disappointing mare. Has the talent to win this but looked average in the Gr 1 Sangster last start when beaten 3.4 lengths. Take on trust. But, I have sacked her.

Good on Soft
7. Giga Kick (12)
Hasn’t raced for 6 months but all things being equal he is far better than these. Recent jump outs have been excellent too. Has won $12 million in prizemoney and is the best sprinter in the land on his day. Mark Zahra has jumped off last start Gr 1 winner Charm Stone to ride him. All things point to an easy win, especially if track is damp.

Proven Winner
8. Reserve Bank (9)
Could be the surprise package. Has grown a leg since racing at this track where he is unbeaten in 2 stakes races, latest last start when an easy winner of the Gr 2 Tobin Bronze over 1200m in a quick time. Drops 3kg here too. Tougher race but he’s in form and very fit. Chance.

9. Press Down (10)
Has talent and speed. Will go forward but there are a few who will also and as he’s drawn wide he may get trapped. That means he’ll get smashed late.

10. Volcanic Express (11)
Seems to have improved about 10 lengths over the past month. And if that improvement curve continues he’s a place chance at big odds. Won stakes race at Oakbank then was 2nd to Watchme Win last start in Gr 3.

11. Generosity (5)
This is one of WA’s best sprinters. Certainly one of the most consistent. Gets back and runs home hard. Did that last start when beaten half a length in the $5million Quokka in good time at Ascot. Must be considered.

12. Ameena (8)
Good but a little inconsistent filly. Made impressive ground between runners to grab 2nd in the Gr 1 Sangster here last start behind Charm Stone. Weighted well enough and could finish hard into a placing again.

13. Prairie Flower (7)
Really honest mare who tries her heart out. But Gr 1 level has proven above her. Will probably finish midfield.
