Gr 1 – Golden Eagle

Likes to be on speed and is in tremendous form. Narrowly knocked over subsequent Gr 1 winner Transatlantic at Sandown over 1500m, then carried 58kg when beaten a nose by the same horse in the Gr 1 Toorak over a mile. Great draw here, this is his pet trip, and looms large.

Went into the Gr 1 Toorak rated a big show and after racing near the pace, he had nothing over the final stages. Gets thrashed here if he repeats that effort. Capable on his day though. Maybe it was just an anomaly.

This is a topline racehorse and when 2nd up last start he just strode away to win the Silver Eagle easily over 1300m. This is a lot harder but he also should be fitter and he’s drawn to receive a glorious run. Looks one of the hardest to beat.

On paper put in a shocker when a $2.50 fav in th Gr 1 Toorak last start. was deep all the way but folded up badly. Previous form was first rate. Track will likely be damp and he does like it wet. Give another chance.

Is 3rd up and he has his foot on the till. plus, the wetter it is, the better he will run. Rocked home at both his starts this time up from the rear to finish midfield in solid lead-up races. Gets an extra 100m here and is fitter. Can blow them away.

Improving every run. led and just kept fighting when a great 2nd to Autumn Glow in the Gr 1 Epsom over a mile last start. She did sail past him and beat him comfortably. Shorter trip suits but he meets her 6kg worse off for being beaten by her. Place.

Will be massive odds but could sneak a place as his past 2 starts have been most unlucky. Never got a chance to stride out last start when 8th to Linebacker. Would have placed had he had a crack at them. Perfect draw here.

Is close to a win but draw is a big hinderance. Not all that far away in the Gr 1 Epsom then chased home hard when 2nd to Linebacker last start in the Silver Eagle. Meets him 2.5kg worse off though. Place.

Terrific run from spell last start when made ground late and 3rd to Linebacker. Will strip fitter and is on a hiding to nothing from this horror draw though. Meets Linebacker 2.5kg worse off. Place at best.

Another horror draw but is 3rd up and is getting close to a win. Made solid ground on the inside late last start when 4th, beaten a nose out of 3rd in the Silver Eagle. Meets Linebacker, who beat him comfortably, 2kg worse off but is improving. Place.

Smart on pace runner but it would surprise to see him win. Scored 3 wins on the trot in much easier races then was 2nd in a midweeker last start. Not likely.

Outstanding Japanese runner who is a Gr 1 winner there in exceptional time. If he brings that form he wins this comfortably. Has raced 6 times for 4 wins. Clearly is exceptional and will get a glorious run from this gate. Must be in your numbers.

Smart Gr 3 winner from England who probably gets back early even from this nice gate. And that will be hard to come back from. It may be a case where these Gr 3 level horses from England are simply not up to our best ones anymore.

Is creating a Winx-like record. Has raced 7 times for 7 wins, latest when simply too good for the rest in the Gr 1 Epsom over a mile in good time. Is so professional and so tough and can accelerate with 250m to go. Is on home track here. Big player.

Rides the speed and is racing in great heart of late. Up in class here but ran good time to win Bm 94 then again ran fast time when 2nd in Gr 3 Angst over a mile. Will be probably in front from this alley for a good while.

Good mare who won very well in handy time last start but in a BM 72, which is many grades below these. Is trained here and is honest but this should test.

Has talent and won a BM 68 in good style last start but this is many lengths harder. Not keen.
