Gr 1 – Doomben Cup

Last year’s Melbourne and Caulfield Cup winner, and, he is back. Has had two starts this time in and last run was behind the champ Pride Of Jenni in the 1800 metres Hollandale Cup. Got a long way back that day and finished hard out wide to grab 4th. Way more suited to this trip. Is also much fitter now, and, is expected to finish very strongly. Hard to beat.  

This bloke is the interesting runner. He did not contest the Hollandale Cup unlike these others, but appears the only one likely to go forward and be within striking distance of Jenni in this race.  Is tough enough to cart the field up to her. He is 3rd up and was very strong in the recent Group 1 Tancred Stakes. He is always a threat at this level, is super fit and is going to make his presence felt. Stable is VERY bullish on him.

Former Kiwi galloper who has taken time to find his feet here. But, his past three runs suggest that has now occurred. Has dominated his past two races including the Gosford Cup 2300m with a huge weight last up. This is considerably harder but he loves a heavy track and he is in sparkling form. Place chance. 

Was the poor unfortunate one who charged from the pack to try and gun down Jenni last start in the Hollandale Cup. Fought hard all the way in the straight that day and was making good ground on her late to get second. Will appreciate the extra 200 metres in this. Bound to be running on brilliantly again. 

Got back to last early. Stayed on the inside and made nice headway when 5th, beaten a long way by Jenni in the Hollandale Cup. Will like the extra 200 metres here but place at best. 

She is probably not just the darling but also the most popular racehorse in the country right now. Her cavalier style of racing just attracts everyone’s interest. She showed us signs of her brilliant Group 1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes win from a few years back by dashing out to a 15 lengths lead and hanging on to win the Hollandale Cup over 1800 metres by a length last run. Will the extra 200 metres in this prove beyond her? Probably not because she is super fit and she’ll turn for home with a big break and the straight here is much shorter than at the Gold Coast last start. She should take an enormous amount of catching again.
