1. Overpass (10)
Great sprinter who is ready to peak. Importantly, on 3 occasions while 3rd up he has won, including last prep. He is 3rd up here. He has run faster than these and he has consistently run faster. Likes a soft track too. So many things in his favour. Should spear towards the lead from the get go. Did get beaten a head into 2nd spot in this race 2 years ago.

Proven Winner
2. Schwarz (11)
Enigmatic but is very smart when mind is on the job. Won at Gr 1 level in the William Reid in Melbourne on a slow track last start. It will be damp here too. Has won 3 of his past 4 attempts at this trip. Must be considered.

3. Mazu (13)
Won this race on a heavy track which he will get again here back in 2022. Then in 2023 was 3rd behind Giga Kick and Overpass. Then on pace and weakened to 7th in this race last year. Since then has won at Randwick in Gr 3 Hall Mark this trip on wet track. This is harder but he does love this time of year.

Good on Soft
4. Veight (9)
Interesting Gr 1 winner. Didn’t come up at all with 3 horrible runs last time in. Not great on wet tracks and prefer to see but on his day has claims.

Likes Dry Track
5. Desert Lightning (4)
Beautifully drawn to receive a great run just behind speed. Likes it wet too. And, has won over 1100m. This is harder though and was well beaten by Jimmysstar in Gr 1 All Aged 1400m last start. Probably finishes mid field.

Good on Soft
6. Rothfire (15)
Local star who likes to lead and still has some fight. Doesn’t mid it wet either. Led and run down late when solid 4th to Libertad and Jedibeel in the Gr 2 Victory this trip last start. Fitter now and will run a big race.

Ready to Fire
7. Golden Mile (1)
Could be the dark horse. Got back a long way but rocketed home at huge odds last start when 3rd to Libertad this trip last start at Eagle Farm in the Gr 2 Victory. Probably wins in 3 more bounds. That was the first sign of form for over a year. Likes it wet too. Have in your numbers.

Ready to Fire
8. Zarastro (7)
Good Qld sprinter who is capable on his day and likes it wet too. Did run very fast time at Gold Coast winning $1m race in January. This is harder but he’s fresh and should sit in a nice spot just behidnd the speed until they turn. Can place.

Track Talent
9. Libertad (12)
Wasn’t far away when resuming in weaker Listed race and showed he was fitter when he stormed home to claim the Gr 2 Victory Stakes last start at Eagle Farm. Quite a few of these finished behind him that day. Was $91 but if he repeats the dose he is a player again.

In Form
10. Jedibeel (3)
Is a very good Gr 2 level sprinter and showed that with a solid finish to just fail last start when 2nd in the Gr 2 Victory behind Libertad. Looks suited here from this great draw. Has claims.

Ready to Fire
11. Hidden Wealth (2)
Loves a heavy track and may get that here. Was racing well in slightly weaker group races prior to stepping up to the Gr 2 Victory and while on pace until deep into the stretch he weakened badly last 100m. This is harder.
-
Good on Soft
12. Sunshine In Paris (14)
Top class sprinter in the stable of the moment right now. Is comfortable on wet ground, is better than most of these and has Jay mac to steer. Looks the one to beat.
13. Belclare (6)
Kiwi mare who can run fast time. Has won in Sydney over 1400m and has wet track form. Led and not far away when 6th last start in Gr 1 All Aged over 1400m. Freshened for this and has place claims at good odds.
-
Good on Soft
14. Benedetta (8)
Has her foot on the till and is ready to run a blinder. Ran 2nd in Gr 1 William Reid on slow track then last start finished well when beaten under 3 lengths by Jimmysstar in the Gr 1 All Aged. Loves it damp and this looks ideal. Is a Gr 1 winner.
-
Good on Soft
15. Lady Laguna (16)
Good, tough mare who is up for the fight here. Did lead and run down last start when well backed and 3rd to City Of Lights in Gr 3 at Hawkesbury on heavy track. This is harder but she is capable and is fitter now.
-
Ready to Fire
17. Payline (Em1) (17)
Badly drawn so will ease back and he can’t give these a head start. Ran 9th to Libertad in Gr 2 last start.
