- Caulfield - RACE 8
- (1600M)
- March 16, 2024
1. Mr Brightside (11)
Looks a good thing. I see Pride Of Jenni bursting forward early and Buffalo River going with her allowing this bloke to slide across from wide draw and find 3rd spot on his own. Is too fast over the last 400m for these.

2. Cascadian (7)
Should rattle home. Is 3rd up here. Should nearly have won when resuming then got too far back last start when running on strongly into 4th behind Think It Over this trip at Randwick in Gr 1 Verry Elleegant Stakes. Big quinella player.

Ready to Fire
3. Attractable (2)
Will be huge odds but will make a race of this. Loves this journey and when resuming last start led the Gr 2 Apollo Stakes only to be run over late by Fangirl in semnsational time. Fitter now, will not lead but will race with cover and should be right there at the end.

Ready to Fire
4. Munhamek (10)
Finished like a train to score in good time in the west for Damien Oliver’s last ride but in two starts since, hasn’t run a place in Gr 1 races. Excellent galloper on his day but it is hard catching him. This will test also.
5. Dom To Shoot (12)
Star WA galloper who is a Gr 1 winner in the west. And last start he put the writing on the wall with a slashing 4th to the great Mr Brightside over 1400m in the Gr 1 Futurity at Caulfield in handy time. Only beaten 3 lengths. Super fit now, loves this journey and should make his presence felt.
6. Buffalo River (9)
Had a golden opportunity last start in the 1400m Gr 1 Futurity to cause an upset over Mr Brightside but his apprentice rider sent him out too fast in the middle stages. He naturally weakened and wound up a creditable 3rd. Has won over a mile and will drive toward the lead again but this time may sit back in 2nd spot hoping to get the trip.

Place Performer
7. Pinstriped (1)
Has talent and resumes here having won a Gr 2 mile last prep. Does race well fresh and while this is very tough he should get back and run on. May sneak a place.

Ready to Fire
8. Desert Lightning (8)
Comes to Australia from NZ having won a 1600m race under 57.5kg at Ellerslie in faster time than any horse in this field has ever gone. Is also a Gr 1 winner over a mile back in his homeland. Last start he was a solid 3rd at WFA over a mile at Otaki. That form tends to hold up well for races like this. Respect.

9. Ayrton (5)
Top class Gr 2 horse who is in form and runs home hard. When it comes to gr 1 races though, he tends to find trouble. Boxed on well when just off pace and 3rd here in Gr 2 Blamey this trip in slow time. May struggle late although has won 6 races at this track.

Track Talent
10. Puntura (4)
Kiwi star who won the impressive Gr 1 Thornton Mile two starts back. Last start was not quite as impressive when beaten 10 lengths in the Gr 1 Classic at Otaki. This should test him.
-
Good on Soft
11. Holymanz (3)
Is smart and is getting better with racing. But this may test. Did win a 1700m hcp here before heading to NZ and running a cracking 4th in fast time behind Desert Lightning and Legarto. Came back and was 2nd to the smart Atishu at Flemington last start in the Gr 2 Blamey. Can sit up just off pace and will be bobbing thereabouts late.

In Form
12. Pride Of Jenni (6)
Took on a couple of Flemington Gr 1 mile races late last year and led all the way to win both, one of them beating Mr Brightside in the $3million Cantala. Led and was a game 2nd to the same horse when resuming last start over 1400m in the Gr 1 Orr Stakes here. Will lead and if she can do so without pressure, may well go all the way again.
