Melbourne Classic
DIFFERENT GRAVY looked quite special when he won at Flemington last time out over the carnival when he swooped on them from the tail to win as he liked. Mark Zahra stays on board and with the slight rise in trip for this event, look for a repeat performance here.
Zipping Classic
Will be having something KOVALICA here in the Zipping Classic. He has only run one podium finish this campaign but the last time he got over ground he won the Q22 at Eagle Farm over 2200m at WFA. This race is not as strong as he has faced over recent times and he will be running over them late at juicy odds.
Recognition Stakes
Had a dollar or two on CIFRADO at Newcastle in The Hunter last time and he ran home solidly from back in the field to only go down 1.5 lengths behind Coal Crusher in a much stronger event than he faces here. He should be well suited to the 1350m and usually races well at Doomben. At a double figure price, have something each-way.
Lee Steere Classic
Although Luana Miss bolted in last time in the Placid Ark, SNITZALATTE was a little hard luck story from that race not seeing much daylight at any stage in the straight. The star is not here this time and Chris Parnham takes over the reins, so I expect the three-years-old filly to run a big race and get back into the winners stall.
Winterbottom Stakes
From the low draw in 3 staying with the winner of the past two Group q Winterbottom Stakes in OVERPASS. He should race right up on speed and Joker’s Grin, his main rival, will have to give him a big start. Josh Parr will hold him together until cornering for home and then allow him to show his acceleration over the later stages and make it very hard for anything to run over him.
