Archer Stakes
MORMONA just kept on coming when third a fortnight ago behind Revelare at Caulfield over an unsuitable distance. She looks well placed here with only 54kgs on her back and out to 2500m looks ideal for her after winning here in the Deane Lester Cup over 2800m back in July. Should be at an each-way quote and that seems like a good bet.
Makybe Diva Stakes
It’s hard to look past VIA SISTINA here in the Makybe Diva Stakes. She is well in at the weights with 57kgs for a mare of her quality. Although she flopped in this race last year, that was on a heavy 9 track and since then, she has won 7 races including the Cox Plate and numerous Group 1’s. Looks like the one to beat this year.
Open Handicap
NETTUNO just got home last time here over 1200m and now drops back slightly in trip. He usually settles just off the pace and from the low draw, should be able camp close possibly behind the leader. Should only need a solid Ryan Maloney ride to find a passage on straightening and he will prove too strong for this field again.
BM78 Handicap
Giving FREE CARRY another chance after being disappointing last time at Eagle Farm. I thought he got attacked early and then took the sit but when asked for maximum effort in the straight, there was nothing left. Hopefully Emily Lang can bowl along without pressure this time and if so, should be able to return to the winner’s list.
Nicopolis Stakes
STORMCHASER looks very hard to hold out here in the small field he faces today. Has a fantastic record winning 6 out of 15 runs to date and has won twice over this track/distance. He should park just off the speed and he has a brilliant burst of speed when let down. Feel as though he will be rounding them up close to the line for the victory.
