Grade 5
I’m going to give SHE’S OUR GAL (3) another chance to atone for letting us down last week in a 550m event and at good odds she ran well in a slightly tougher assignment. She is drawn ideally, as she is a slow breaker but loves the rails, so she should get every opportunity to poke up on the first turn and be within striking distance. Should be an each-way price, so she looks a good win/place bet. Her danger could come from CASH HANDY (1) who is having start 84 tonight and loves the red box but is better suited by a shorter trip so could be vulnerable late.
Grades 4 & 5
Looking for some value here with BANDIT DARYL (3) who looks to be close to another win. Usually a slow beginner who takes his time to find his feet but once he gets going, he picks up ground quickly. Last week he rounded the opposition up but his run came to an end in the straight. Should be a good price and well worth an each- way play. The favorite will likely be MEPUNGA LARA (5) and if she finds the lead, she will be hard to beat although I can’t catch her. Do think she is susceptible at the trip, which is why I’m leaning towards the roughie.
Invitation
AFIRE (1) was beaten last week when a $1.30 pop but he drew the pink and he is a much better dog closer to the rail. He grows a leg from the red box and has a 5.20 first split to his name which should be enough to hold the lead here at the first turn and that should be curtains for the opposition. The danger could come from AMRON TIGER (2) who is racing consistently without winning and is generally around the placings.
