Greyhound Tips – Thursday 1st January

ZIPPING EVANIA (1) won very well on Saturday night here beating My Pharaoh by 2.5 lengths in 29.65 after pinging straight to the lead from the yellow box. She is drawn ideally in the red and she has never missed a place in seven tries (5 wins & 2 placings). She will land on the lure here and be the one they will have to run down. The pink dog RED ROCK RAZZLE (8) looks her main threat as he can jump well at times and can run the hands off the clock if he gets it right. The issue will be if he can cross from the draw, although he has been placed twice, so keep him in mind.

From the coveted red box ASCEND ECSTATIC (1) should be hold the fence at the first corner and be well within striking distance of his rivals, just like when he won two back at The Meadows over SHARAPOVA STAR (4) after she got an early lead on him but he was able to run her down from the corner. She is one of the fastest greyhounds early but is susceptible over the final 50m and that’s when the red dog is at his best. He should be able to replicate that win of two back and run over them late.

WHISKEY WHISKERS (4) is having his first run here at Q2 Parklands tonight but see no reason why he won’t be the first dog through to the Derby Final after his scintillating win in the heat of the Silver Chief two runs back and then no luck from the squeeze box in the final. He should be able to lead this field, if not, camp on the lead and should prove far too strong for the opposition. The other potential leader is OUT OF WHISKEY (1) drawn well in the red and could kick up but is only having his second run over the trip and will struggle to hold off the blue dog.
