Mixed 4/5
HOT NANU (3) had no luck in his heat of the Australia Cup on Saturday night behind My Boy Bingo and this is a sharp drop in class for him here. He has won previously track/distance in 29.48 and although he can be hit or miss at the start, there doesn’t appear to be much speed outside of him, so he may very well find the arm. If he does, he will take plenty of catching. JOROGUMO (7) likes a wide box and could get across to sit close. Has run well here before and could give Hot Nanu a run for his money.
5th Grade
On paper STARFIRE TEARS (4) form doesn’t jump out at you and says back me but she has been racing against the top line stayers of late in Open graded races and this drop in grade will suit her perfectly. The last time she faced Grade 5 opposition she won both over the 600 and 710m. She should land close if not lead this field and she will be hard to hold out at the finish. Her main danger looks to be KITTY ANN (5) who hasn’t raced over the trip for a while but her consistency gives her some claims.
4th/5th Grade
WINSOME RAMBO (1) looks extremely well placed in this mixed grade event tonight to add to his winning tally from his favorite box. He has won 3 races from the red and placed on two occasions from six starts and even though he is a risky beginner, he hugs the rail and should be either in front or on their heels at the first corner. He is very strong and can run sub 29.60, so that should be enough to get away with this race. His danger will likely come from ROBERT KEEPING (4) who comes off an unplaced effort in the heats of the Bulli Cup where he just got outclassed by Eriza Sparkles and company but he should run well back in grade here.
