The Dawn Johnston-trained youngster has already won five of his 14 starts and boasts a strong record over the Sandown 515m, with two wins and multiple placings from seven appearances. Drawn perfectly in box two, he should get every chance to settle on the speed and prove hard to hold out. OTTO ROSE (1) is the main danger after a dominant heat victory of his own and should enjoy a dream run from the red box.

AWESOME BANDIT (2) looks the one to beat in the opening SA Derby heat after stringing together two dominant wins at Sandown. The Jason Thompson-trained youngster has continued to improve with racing and was particularly impressive last start when clearing out to score by 3.5 lengths in a strong final. Drawn perfectly in box two, he should get every chance to settle close to the speed and continue his winning run. RADAR O’REILLY (8) is the main danger. The Jeffrey Britton-trained chaser has been competing in strong Victorian company and the outside draw gives him room to stay out of trouble early before launching late.

MEPUNGA ENVY (8) looks the standout in the second SA Derby heat after an impressive Sandown victory last start. The Jeffrey Britton-trained youngster is starting to put it all together, winning his past two starts and showing the strength expected from a greyhound coming through one of Victoria’s premier kennels. The wide draw should suit, allowing him to stay clear of any early trouble and work into the race at the right time. RAD RIPPER (7) is the main danger after winning all three career starts to date and looks capable of taking another step forward in this company.

MEPUNGA GYPSY (4) looks the one to beat in the third SA Oaks heat after breaking through with an impressive Sandown victory last start. The Jeffrey Britton-trained bitch has been racing in strong Victorian company and should take plenty of confidence from that breakthrough win. Drawn ideally in box four, she can settle closer to the speed and looks capable of making it back-to-back victories. HALFETI (1) is the main danger. She’s won one of her two starts and was dominant breaking her maiden at Angle Park last week, drawing the inside box again and shaping as the obvious threat if she holds the rail early.
