HE’S A PEARL (1) won the Richmond Puppy Classic last start after beginning awkwardly but showed great track sense to dart through runners and worked home powerfully along the rail to win over Tank Keeping. From the draw he looks perfectly suited and should prove the hardest to beat. JOANNE (5) won from the blue box last week and showed her natural pace out of the boxes to win by 2 lengths in 29.42. She could lead again but may find the red too strong in the run home.
Mixed 4/5
ZELDA COVILHA (1) drops back significantly in class for this race tonight after running 2nd in a heat of the Melbourne Cup and then up against Paw Oswald, when was slow out and never in the race last week. From the draw he only needs to jump on even terms with them and he should prove the dominant force in the race. CROYDON (2) looks the danger and is an up & comer with plenty of ability. If he is seasoned enough to hold off a late charging Zelda, we will find out tonight.
5th Grade
DEWANA STAR (4) is stepping out for the first time in town but has set the country circuits on fire with his speed and does look to be a star on the rise. Not a great deal of pace inside of him here, so he should find the arm with ease and be the one to catch from there on. WRECK JAMES (7) has had no luck down south since arriving from Queensland but he is a smart dog who will find the line late. Can definitely run into a place and looks a good quinella option.
