5th Grade Final
ROW BEAU (5) was first-up from a spell last week when he flew out of the boxes, looked home for the money and only weakened late, going down narrowly to PAST TENSE (1) at the wire. These two should have the race between them again tonight in the final. With that run under his belt, Row Beau can improve enough to hold off his nemesis this time around. The red dog is very consistent and excels when he finds a low draw.
Free For All
CROYDEN (8) coming off his brilliant Broken Hill Cup win last start where he broke the track record in the heat and looks extremely hard to beat back at The Meadows tonight. He likes room to move early and goes through his gears quickly. He should round them up early on and shoot clear down the back. Look for him to be running time and winning well. Throw the red URANA XAVIER (1) in as a danger at good odds. He loves an inside draw and can see no reason why he can’t hunt up at the first corner and find Croydon’s back to chase.
5th Grade
CANYA EXCITE ME (7) drops back to a Grade 5 tonight and is definitely the one to beat here. He recently ran 3rd to Dewana Star in the Warrnambool Cup after a brilliant heat win over him and won the prestigious Sandgroper three starts back at Cannington. Loves a wide draw and he should pounce straight on the arm and lead them a merry dance. His main danger is likely the pink UNWORLDLY (8) who will get the cart across with him early. He should chase well but I can’t see him running over the top of the black at any stage.
