The golf world takes centre stage in sports this weekend as a field of 95 players descend on Augusta National for the Masters.
Scottie Scheffler is the defending champion and favourite to leave with the green jacket at $5. However, in a field of quality, at a course that throws up chaos, and with the pressure of it being the years first major, anything is possible across the four days.

History In The Making
Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy are out to make history in this one.
Scheffler is the defending champion and looking to win his third Masters championship as the $5 favourite. He’s looking to join Jack Nicklaus as the only players to win three green jackets in a four-year span. If he does join Nicklaus there, he will also join him, Tiger Woods and Nick Faldo as the only back-to-back champions in Masters history, and the first since 2002.
Meanwhile, McIlroy is looking to finally complete the career grand slam with a win here at $7.50. He’s a four-time Major winner but is seeking his first Major win since 2014. The talent has always been there. However, the pressure of this being his 17th attempt at victory must surely play a part in the mental side of the game. In the ten tournaments he’s played here in his quest to win the career grand slam, McIlroy has finished in the Top 10 six times including a runner-up performance in 2022.

There are strong arguments for both to win this one. Scheffler’s game is perfect for Augusta National – he misses in the right spots and gives himself a chance all weekend. While a long career already, the start to 2025 is among the best periods McIlroy has ever played.
The pair are in excellent form to start the year and on a tier of their own in the Masters winner market.

There is a sharp drop following the two favourites with a congested peloton chasing the pair. Enough for there to be a winners market without Scheffler and McIlroy.
Jon Rahm, the 2023 Masters champion, is in fine form on the LIV tour to have recorded five consecutive Top 10 finishes. He’s at $15 to win it and $2.40 to continue is run of tournament Top 10’s. While he finished T45 last year, Rahm’s numbers suggest he will be in the mix this time. He’s gained at least three shots in the ball-striking metrics in three straight rounds.
Top LIV Player: Rahm – $3.75, DeChambeau – $4.50, Niemann – $6, Koepka – $7
The Top 10 numbers also work well for Xander Schauffele who has finished towards the top in four of his seven Masters starts. Schauffele is on the seventh line of betting to win the event at $21, but his $5 to finish Top 5 and $2.88 to finish Top 10 deserve consideration.

Colin Morikawa’s four-straight Top 20 finishes have him short at $1.57 to do so again, but there is value in his $2.50 to finish in the Top 10. While he hasn’t won since October 2023, he has the numbers (only McIlroy has more strokes gained in tee-to-green in 2025), form and history at the course to be worth exploring to win at $17.
Masters Winner Market: Scheffler – $5, McIlroy – $7.50, Rahm – $15, Morikawa – $17, Aberg – $19, DeChambeau – $21, Schauffele – $21, Thomas – $23, Niemann – $26
He’s missed two straight cuts coming into the masters, but Ludvig Aberg is at $1.24 to make it through to this weekend. From there, Aberg is expected to finish in the Top 20 at $1.72.
If we’re looking a lot further down the list, Will Zalatoris ($51) is always worth looking into at the Masters. He’s played in three so far while never finishing worse than T9th. His history at the course demands attention in the Top 20 market at $2.50. So too does Corey Conners ($2.60) who picked up three Top 10’s in four years from 2020 to 2022.

Masters Tips
The Masters always provides more markets than normal with Top Amateur, Asian, Canadian, Debutant and more on offer. One Specials market of interest is in Schauffele, Morikawa and Aberg to all finish in the Top 10 at $13.
But there are three to focus on more specifically.
This is a course that rewards elite ball strikers. If the weather turns slightly, as it’s expected to do, Will Zalatoris’ advantage as one of the best strikers in golf grows. While his putting leaves a lot to be desired and he’s without a Top 10 finish this season, Zalatoris is consistently in the mix, especially here, and a worthwhile bet at $2.50 to finish inside the Top 20.
As a rough option, Russell Henley is on a heater. He’s one of the best players in golf right now with four Top 10 finishes already this season. The 35-year-old just picked up his fifth PGA Tour win of his career and is always a top-tier iron player. Add his accurate driving at a tough course, and it’s worth investing in Henley to win at $51.

He’s shorter than you’d like, but that’s what happens when you’re preparing to win your third. However, Scottie Scheffler is too good to pass up at $5 to win. Not only is he in excellent form, his game profiles exceptionally well here. He’s the most likely to stay the course while those around him stumble through tight angles and tough lies.
