The 2025-26 Premier League season kicks on into Matchday 38, and we’re here with five top-shelf EPL tips for the weekend ahead.
Tottenham v Everton
Tottenham failed to get the job done against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last week. Now it’s all down to this…
A draw will do it regardless of how West Ham goes against Leeds United. However, points have been hard to come by for this team at home. Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is far from a fortress. In fact, it’s more of a cursed site. They’ve won only two of their 18 matches on home soil this season.
They’re coming into this one with less rest than Everton, and following what ended up as a high-intensity encounter with their London rivals. Fatigue is enough of a factor as it is at this point of the EPL season, but two full days difference is worth considering.

Equally, though, is Everton’s last of motivation. They have little to play for in this one. Even when they’ve been playing at their most intense, they’ve leaked 49 goals.
Their leaky defence will provide Spurs with chances, and the desperation of the home side should result in three points and Premier League football next season.

West Ham v Leeds United
The equation is simple for West Ham: Win and give themselves a chance of staying up, lose or draw and confirm their relegation.
Three losses on the bounce don’t help their confidence. It’s why they’re in this position. Meanwhile, Leeds United have secured their future. That hasn’t stopped them from playing good football, though. They made things difficult for Tottenham by finishing level with them on Matchday 36 before earning a late 1-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion. Leeds seem intent on finishing their season well, and that spells danger for the Hammers under pressure.
Even if West Ham can capture some form and give themselves a chance at staying up, they’re not likely to do so by blowing Leeds off the park. They’ve scored only 43 goals all season.
With that in mind, expect a cagey 90 minutes and under 2.5 goals.

Chelsea v Sunderland
There is European football at stake in this one. For Sunderland – currently 10th – playing in Europe would mark a significant achievement for the recently-promoted club. For Chelsea, they need to win to avoid the Conference League. Europa League is bad enough for such a big club, but landing in the Conference League spots on the table is a hindrance to their next season.
Once again, fatigue is a factor. Chelsea walk out onto the Stadium of Light for their third high-stakes match in only eight days after losing to Manchester City in the FA Cup final before beating Tottenham in a gruelling 90 minutes. They’ll have three days to rest and recover. Sunderland, meanwhile, has had a full week to rest and has a genuine chance of playing in Europe next season.
Add the hostile environment on their side, and fading the favourite for the home side is the play here.

Liverpool v Brentford
Only 12 months after celebrating an EPL title, Arne Slot is under pressure, and Liverpool are no certainty to play Champions League football. They need to win or draw against Brentford to avoid giving Bournemouth an opportunity to leapfrog them on the table. Similarly, Brentford need to win to give themselves a chance of qualifying for the Europa League.
Liverpool’s position on Arne Slot remains unchanged – despite a day of social media rumours.

Liverpool have had plenty of time to rest and recover following their 4-2 win over Aston Villa on Matchday 37. They’ll get a boost playing at Anfield in what will double as Mo Salah’s send-off from the club. Salah’s departure, social media comments made – and liked – by some of the playing group have added a level of toxicity at the club, but expect them to come together for a club legend on the field.
Brentford have impressed this season but face a tough task here. Liverpool will dominate possession and play out from the back, looking to get their dangerous players up front involved. They’ve not lost any of their final games over the last 10 seasons. It’s hard to look past the fairytale finish for Salah, too.

Fulham v Newcastle
The EPL deserves to finish with a banger of a game, and this one looks the most likely to produce it.
Fulham will have their sights set on finishing in the top of the EPL table while Newcastle are making one last push towards the Top 6. Nothing other than three points will do for both clubs.
Newcastle looks set to deploy an aggressive press to counter Fulham’s build-up play. While there are plenty of reasons that could be successful, it opens up space in behind for Fulham’s speedsters out wide to expose them on the counterattack.
Throw rigid tactics out the window this week, though. The final day promotes emotional and attacking football. With the stakes and form of these two, expect goals despite Fuham’s relative lack of threat throughout May. There is always a chance to come back with Newcastle, conceding an EPL-high 20 goals beyond the 75th minute this season.
