Looking ahead to Matchweek 4 of the 2023/24 EPL season, we break down the five best bets for the weekend of Premier League action.
1. West Ham H2H vs Luton Town @ $1.78
Luton again get the Friday night fixture, and there’s added intrigue as the most boutique of EPL grounds in Kenilworth Road hosts its first match in the top flight. And while there’ll be plenty of interest in the newest Premier League venue given its unique layout, the fact is that on the pitch West Ham are a huge chance to go top of the table with a third win in four games. David Moyes’ men are chock full of confidence after dispatching both Chelsea and Brighton 3-1 in the last fortnight, and are well placed to get another result here.

2. Sheffield United H2H vs Everton @ $3.00
The Blades start as underdogs at home in this one, but are a massive chance of causing an upset. And that’s not just because they gave a good account of themselves against reigning champions Manchester City in Matchweek 3 in which they were well organised and went down 2-1 only to an 88th minute Rodri stunner. Everton sit rock bottom of the EPL table, without a point from three games. Sean Dyche’s side have shown little to inspire in the opening round of fixtures, and a feeling of unease is already permeating Goodison Park very early into the 2023/24 campaign.

3. Tottenham H2H vs Burnley @ $1.85
Spurs suffered their first competitive loss under Ange Postecoglou midweek, to a Fulham side that outplayed them in the League Cup. But there’s little concerns at this stage for the Aussie manager. No less than seven players who are likely to start in this one started on the bench at Craven Cottage, with the likes of James Maddison, Son Heung-min and Dejan Kulusevski all given restricted game time. They’ll be back for this one, and Spurs look the goods to make it three from three. They travelled and took the points against a tricky Bournemouth side last weekend, and should do so again here.

4. Liverpool & Over 2.5 goals vs Aston Villa @ $2.15
Liverpool’s come-from-behind win at Newcastle last weekend would have given the side enormous confidence after a somewhat patchy start to the EPL season. Darwin Nunez’s brace will go down as one of the club’s most famous substitute appearances in the modern era, while summer signing Dominik Szoboszlai continues to impress. They should have enough for Villa here. And there should be goals in this fixture, too. Villa’s three games this season have averaged almost five goals per game.

5. Brighton vs Newcastle Over 3.5 goals @ $2.25
Brighton have made a helter skelter start to the 2023/24 EPL season. No team has scored more than their nine goals in three games to date, while Roberto De Zerbi’s men have also shipped five goals in this period. We know Newcastle will play a high intensity, high press style wherever they go, meaning this clash — which is the tightest H2H market across the weekend — could well see goals galore.
