Five best bets for Matchweek 28

Looking ahead to Matchweek 28 of the 2023/24 EPL season, we break down the five best bets for the weekend of Premier League action.

1. Liverpool vs Manchester City – Draw @ $3.70

Could there be a more high profile EPL encounter? It’s hard to think of one when you consider the circumstances. Two huge clubs separated by a solitary point, duking it out in the latter stages of a season? Yes please. City start as marginal favourites, but the Anfield factor will be enormous in this one. While Pep Guardiola’s shade the Reds in terms of overall quality, Liverpool’s ability to remain in high-profile encounters, PLUS the return of Mo Salah, makes it impossible to split for mine.

2. Man United to win & Over 2.5 goals vs Everton @ $2.55

United were swept away by rivals City last weekend in another galling derby defeat. But the fact is, that’s par for the course these days. And this week, they return to Old Trafford to not only face a far weaker opposition, but one in dire straits. Everton have won just one game in their last 14 across all competitions, and are ripe for the picking. Conversely, prior to the loss to City, United had won six of their last seven. So at $1.80 H2H they represent good value. United’s last four home games have seen three or more total match goals, so I’m doubling Erik ten Hag’s men to win into Over 2.5 goals.

3. Ollie Watkins (AVL) anytime goalscorer vs Tottenham @ $1.95

We backed him last week to get on the scoresheet for a third straight EPL match, and he did exactly that, hitting the back of the net twice against Luton. Ollie Watkins is in rare form, and has now scored seven in his last six league games. It’s getting to the point where England manager Gareth Southgate simply has to pick him in the squad for the Euros this summer. But onto matters at hand, Villa have hit a nice form patch with three straight wins. They remain leaky at the back, which could make this one an absolute cracker.

Bet Now Aston Villa vs Tottenham

4. Kai Havertz (ARS) anytime goalscorer vs Brentford @ $2.00

Arsenal are in rare goalscoring form, having banged in 21 goals in their last four EPL games, conceding just one in the process. One man to have made the most of this period is Kai Havertz, who has scored in each of the last three wins. It’s hugely gratifying for manager Mikel Arteta, who has long backed the German to find his range. Havertz’s three goals and two assists in his past three league appearances equals what he had done in his previous 32 league games combined (four goals, one assist). Backing him to get on the scoresheet for a fourth straight time.

5. Newcastle to win vs Chelsea @ $3.50

Newcastle are a huge chance to sneak a win at Stamford Bridge on Monday night, after a promising last six weeks in which they’ve lost just once in eight games. Buoyed by a 3-0 win over an in-form Wolves outfit in Matchweek 27, Eddie Howe’s men have hit a nice patch of form, and will take it to the Blues from the outset. The pressure continues to pile up on manager Mauricio Pochettino, and the atmosphere at Stamford Bridge could turn if the Magpies grab an early one.
