Five best bets for Matchweek 23

Looking ahead to Matchweek 23 of the 2023/24 EPL season, we break down the five best bets for the weekend of Premier League action.

1. Liverpool H2H vs Arsenal @ $2.85

This clash is always a blockbuster, but given their positions on the EPL table it’s a monumental match in the context of this season’s title race. Liverpool are the form team of the competition, winning their last four league matches in a row and scoring 14 goals in that period. Their ability going forward was underlined by an incredible 28 shots against Chelsea midweek — the joint most on record (since 2003-04) any side has had in an EPL match against the Blues. Make no mistake this is a huge test against the Gunners at home, but the visitors represent good value head-to-head.

2. Man City Over 2.5 goals vs Brentford @ $2.35

Brentford are leaking at the back — it’s as simple as that. In their last five EPL games they’ve let in 14 goals, which includes nine goals from three games at home. Hosting the reigning treble winners at home is going to be a monumental task for Thomas Frank’s men who, all of a sudden, are flirting near the relegation spots. City by contrast have hit their straps in the second-half of the 2023-24 campaign, and have banged in three goals in three of their last four EPL games.

3. Tottenham H2H vs Everton @ $2.30

The Toffees, who’ve grabbed just two points in their last five EPL outings, are ripe for the picking in this one. And coming up against a Spurs side who, while capable of conceding goals themselves, are conversely capable of scoring three goals in eight minutes (as they did against Brentford on Thursday morning Australian time), they look particularly vulnerable. Sean Dyche’s men have scored just twice in this five-game stretch, and after Luton’s win over Brighton are now in the relegation spots.

Bet Now Everton vs Tottenham

4. Richarlison (TOT) to score vs Everton @ $2.40

Remaining on that game, there’s one man who is looming as one of the league’s biggest goalscoring threats at present — and that’s Spurs forward Richarlison. Leading the line brilliantly in the absence of Tottenham stars at the Asian Cup and African Cup of Nations — not least skipper Son Heung-Min — the Brazilian has scored seven goals in his past seven EPL games. That’s more than three times as many as he netted in his first 39 matches in the competition for Spurs.

Bet Now Everton vs Tottenham

5. Under 2.5 goals; Man United vs West Ham @ $2.20

David Moyes has been criticised by some — West Ham fans and general football fans alike — for his lack of entertaining football this season. Some West Ham fans bristle at the suggestions and fair enough, as the Scottish manager continues to churn out results. But that doesn’t mean it’s not turgid. Just one Hammers game in their last seven (all competitions) has featured more than two goals; a 2-2 draw with Sheffield United in the EPL. Backing that trend to continue at Old Trafford, where they’ll likely start on the back foot again.
