Igor Thiago continued his impressive EPL season to score a late double in Brentford’s 3-1 win over Burnley at the Gtech Community Stadium.
Manchester City is doing everything they can to keep in touch with Arsenal at the top of the table. Having given up points last week, City needed a second-half stoppage time goal to sneak past Leeds United 3-2. Meanwhile, Sunderland have regathered themselves after stumbling through the last couple of weeks to complete a 3-2 comeback win over Bournemouth.
Tyler Adams scored what will end up as one of the best goals this season for the losing side.

Finally, Newcastle have picked up a road win by thrashing Everton 4-1 at Hill Dickinson Stadium. In contrast, Tottenham Hotspur still can’t win on their own ground. If there is ever a game to sum up Spurs right now, it’s their 2-1 loss to Fulham.
Down 2-0 inside six minutes thanks to a goal only Tottenham could concede, they looked the better of the two for the remainder before finishing empty handed.

Manchester United scored two from set pieces in their 2-1 win over Crystal Palace as Bruno Fernandes etched himself in the history books. Both goals came from Fernandes’ boot to make it 56 EPL assists for the club, passing Paul Scholes (55) on the list. Only David Beckham (80), Wayne Rooney (93) and Ryan Giggs (162) have assisted on more.
It took a long-range Boubacar Kamara stunner, but Aston Villa ensured Wolves remain winless after Matchday 13. Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest are only one win from the drop zone after falling to Brighton & Hove Albion 2-0.
The pressure heaped on Liverpool in the wake of their 3-0 hammering at the hands of Nottingham Forest. However, Arne Slot’s changes paid dividends in the form of a 2-0 win over West Ham.
Finally, Chelsea and Arsenal shared the spoils at Standford Bridge. It will be two points that got away from the league leaders, though. Arsenal will be kicking themselves for not making the most of the extra man advantage after Moises Caicedo saw red in the first half.
Getting Frank About Tottenham
We’re into the ‘Blame the manager’ phase of the cyclical Tottenham experience following their 2-1 defeat to Fulham over the weekend.
Already under pressure having fallen to Arsenal in the league and Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions league, Thomas Frank’s side played to a chorus of boos after going down 2-0 inside six minutes. It’s the earliest Tottenham has ever gone 2-0 behind in a home EPL game.
Frank didn’t win many of those fans back with his comments after the game:
“I didn’t like how the fans reacted to that. They booed at him straight after and also three or four times when he was on the ball. For me that is unacceptable. They can’t be true Tottenham fans.
“Booing after (the game), fair. No problem. But when we are playing, we need to be together. If we turn it around, we need to do it together. That is hugely important for me.”
Spurs have now lost three games in the space of a week and have won just three of their last 21 home games in the Premier League.
However, the answer isn’t to sack Frank. He’s not been perfect, but didn’t walk into a perfect situation either. To be 10th after Matchday 13 is roughly where most expected Tottenham to be and is still an improvement on their 17th-placed finish last season. Their $2.25 to finish in the top half is worth exploring.
Salah Droppled, Slot Vindicated
Liverpool arrested their slide with a routine 2-0 win over West Ham on Matchday 13 as Alexander Isak and Cody Gakpo put end to their three-game losing streak.
Notably, Isak netted his first EPL goal for the club following a tough start to his career in red. Also of note, Mo Salah failed to start the game on the back of disappointing early-season form.

Slot claimed the decision to drop Salah was from a loading perspective before conceding the tactical element:
“Today, with the way they set up, with a full-back that is constantly very high and a winger that is constantly inside, I thought this could help the team. Like I said, he has been so important for this club and will be important for this club in the future.”
Salah isn’t the only player to blame for Liverpool’s poor form, but his dropping to the bench had long been considered part of the solution. Slot has persisted with the same group for too long. So long that Liverpool have all but played themselves out of title contention at $17.
Set Piece Palace
Crystal Palace are among the top teams in the EPL right now, but issues around defending set pieces are playing a big part in their failure to jump to the next level.
With two more goals conceded from a set piece in their 2-1 defeat to Manchester United, the last three goals Palace have conceded came following a foul.

Palace have a prime opportunity to get themselves back on track as $1.70 favorites to beat Burnley midweek, but the promoted side will have circled the vulnerability in the line. It would only take one from a set piece to turn what should be a comfortable win into a fight.
