The Premier League Preview has EPL Tips for each match from Week 22, including runaway leaders Liverpool’s clash with Jose Mourinho’s team, the Spurs.
Last meeting: October 27, 2019 (EPL): Sheffield Utd 1 draw West Ham 1 at London Stadium
Final Thoughts: Brighton and Hove Albion are 15th – Sheffield have struggled of late, with defeats to league powerhouses Man City and Liverpool at there last two outings, while David Moyes has West Ham humming.
Will Sheffield find a way to score? The last time these teams met it ended in a 1-1 scoreline. Don’t expect to see many more goals this week. West Ham can sneak a point away from home here.
Last meeting: October 28, 2019 (EPL): 2-2 draw at Emirates Stadium
Final Thoughts: Both teams come into this game in reasonable form. Arsenal snapped a four-game league losing streak last weekend with a huge win over Manchester United, while Crystal Palace is coming off a 1-1 result away against Norwich.
The defence of Crystal Palace continues to impress, only conceding 5 goals in their last 8 matches. Arsenal are 2 from 10 on the road this season. It is hard to see the gunners getting into any rhythm against the Eagles this weekend. It could be a dour contest.
Last meeting: October 27, 2019 (EPL): Chelsea 4 d Burnley 2 at Turf Moor
Final Thoughts: Despite an indifferent season to date, Chelsea are currently in the top 4. That ladder position is even more remarkable when you consider that the Blues have lost three of their last four at Stamford Bridge.
Burnley are ice cold. They have lost their last three and have only managed four goals in eight games. Interestingly, the Clarets have managed four points from their last two trips at Stamford Bridge, which will fill them with optimism.
The $1.29 is short when you consider Chelsea’s recent home form. It will be hard to back Burnley on recent form. I’m expecting a low scoring match and the game score under 2.5 looks ideal.
Last meeting: October 27, 2019 (EPL): Brighton 3 d Everton 2 at Amex Stadium
Final Thoughts: This looks a great game.
The Toffees have looked much better since the departure of Marco Silva, and coach Carlo Ancelotti will be hoping for an improved effort after a disappointing FA Cup performance. The Seagulls, with Aaron Mooy firing, are an attractive team to watch.
The home advantage has been crucial between these two teams and Mooy will need to be at his best if Graham Potter’s boys are to steal a point. I think Brighton can match it with their hosts here and force a draw at worst.
Last meeting: October 27, 2019 (EPL): Leicester City 9 d Southhampton 0 at St Mary’s Stadium
Final Thoughts: The last time these team met, Jamie Vardy scored a hat trick and the Foxes won 9-0. Since then Southampton has put together some improved performances (thankfully), winning five from their last eight and going undefeated in the last four matches.
Leicester City have won their last two matches and goal-scoring machine Vardy is expected to return after injury. Danny Ings has hit a purple patch of form, with goals in his last nine matches for the Saints.fans will be hoping for a mouthwatering contest between the two.
While the Saints have improved, the Foxes are dominant at home and should get the three points here.
Last meeting: October 28, 2019 (EPL): Man U 3 – Norwich 1 @ Carrow Road
Final Thoughts: Man U fans will be hoping that last week’s 2-0 loss to Arsenal was only a blip on the radar, as United had started to show some good form. A win for United will keep them in touch with a top 4 finish. In contrast, Norwich has been poor. With only 14 points from 21 matches, they need to start getting points on the board. And fast.
It will take a monumental form swing for the 3 points to go to Man U. The Half-time/Full-time double for Man U looks the goods.
Last meeting: October 28, 2019 (EPL): 1-1 draw at St James Park
Final Thoughts: Burnley These two teams could not be further apart on the form scale. The Wolves were in great form over the festive season, and were unlucky to not defeat the Reds when cruelled by VAR decisions. Newcastle are struggling with form and injuries. Toons coach Steve Bruce will need to be at his best to patch together an 11 that will be competitive this week.
When they last met, the teams played out a 1 -1 draw. Newcastle would love that scoreline again this week. I can’t see it happening.
Final Thoughts: This game has an upset feeling about it. The Reds have been up for a long time. They have to lose one soon, don’t they?
Expect the Jose Mourinho prepared Spurs to come out hard for the clash with the runaway leaders. The Spurs will bring a strong phyical approach to the game and Mourinho’s tactical nous could come to the fore.
Liverpool just continues to get the job done. They have been brilliant. I’m tipping an upset here. The Spurs might be a tad hungrier at home.
Last meeting: October 27, 2019 (EPL): Bournemouth 0 drew Watford 0 at Vicarage Road
Final Thoughts: A crucial match for two teams deep in the relegation zone.
For teams so far down the table, they bring contrasting form lines to the contest. Watford has managed an impressive 10 points from the last 4 matches and have a sniff of avoiding dropping down. Bournemouth have been in poor form, losing eight of their last ten.
The positive for Bournemouth is that they are at home. Watford are on an upward trend for manager Nigel Pearson and the $2.75 H2H looks a gift.
Last meeting: October 26, 2019 (EPL): Man City 3 d Aston Villa 0 at Etihad Stadium
Final Thoughts: Could this be the biggest blowout of the EPL season?
Manchester City have won their last three matches including a win in the Manchester Derby. The loss to the Wolves in Week 19 may have been the kick start City needed. Aston Villa are battling to find the back of the net.
If you like goals, set the alarm for Monday morning.
