EPL Tips – West Ham United V Chelsea

23:30 (AEDT), Sat 4th Dec @ London Stadium, London

History: Played 116: Chelsea 52 V West Ham 42 (22 Draws)

Last meeting: April 24, 2021 (EPL): Chelsea 1 d West Ham 0 at London Stadium

Final Thoughts: West Ham confront their second top-four rival in the space of a week with crosstown foes and competition leaders Chelsea visiting London Stadium.

The Irons went down 2-1 at Manchester City last weekend, while Brighton held them to a 1-all draw at London Stadium midweek thanks to an 89th-minute goal. Tomas Soucek had opened the scoring for West Ham in the fifth minute but David Moyes’ outfit failed to take a slew of subsequent opportunities.

Chelsea remain on top – one point ahead of Man City – after a changed-up side got away with a 2-1 win at Watford midweek. Mason Mount scored the opener and provided the assist for Hakim Ziyech’s 72nd-minute winner. Three of the measly six goals Chelsea have conceded this season have come in their last four games, but Thomas Tuchel’s charges are yet to leak more than one goal in a game.

After winning just one of the teams’ previous six clashes, Chelsea had the wood on improved West Ham last season, getting up 3-0 at Stamford Bridge and 1-0 at London Stadium.

Though a bit short as $1.80 away favourites, Chelsea boast six wins and a draw (at Liverpool) on the road this season and should be too good for a West Ham side in scratchy form.

Best Bet: Result – Chelsea @ $1.80

Same Game Multi: Result – Chelsea; Handicap – West Ham +2; Total – Over 1.5; Both Teams To Score; Anytime Goalscorer – Romelu Lukaku @ $12.37

EPL Tips – Newcastle United V Burnley

02:00 (AEDT), Sun 5th Dec @ St James’ Park, Newcastle

History: Played 110: Newcastle 45 V Burnley 44 (21 Draws)

Last meeting: August 25, 2021 (EFL Cup): Burnley 0 d Newcastle 0 (penalties) at St James’ Park

Final Thoughts: Newcastle host Burnley in a vital bottom-three showdown. The last-placed Magpies are yet to win a game, but they have earned three draws from their last four games – including against fellow battlers Norwich (1-1) at home midweek.

Burnley are 18th but have a game in hand after last weekend’s clash with Tottenham was snowed out, while their scoreless draw at Wolverhampton midweek extended their unbeaten run to five games.

Newcastle boast four wins and a draw from their teams’ last six Premier League encounters, winning 3-1 at home and 2-1 at Turf Moor last season. Burnley downed Newcastle in a penalty shootout at St James’ Park after a scoreless League Cup affair in August.

Burnley are tempting as $3.20 underdogs, but with both teams showing considerable defensive resolve of late the under looks a solid option.

Best Bet: Total – Under 2.5 @ $1.85

Same Game Multi: Result – Draw; Total – Under 2.5; Anytime Goalscorer – Chris Wood @ $10.54

EPL Tips – Wolverhampton Wanderers V Liverpool

02:00 (AEDT), Sun 5th Dec @ Molineux Stadium, Wolverhampton

History: Played 108: Liverpool 55 V Wolverhampton 36 (17 Draws)

Last meeting: March 15, 2021 (EPL): Liverpool 1 d Wolverhampton 0 at Molineux Stadium

Final Thoughts: Third-placed Liverpool have been on a rampage in recent weeks, demolishing Arsenal (4-0), Southampton (4-0) and Everton (4-1) in their past three. Diogo Jota scored four goals across those routs – including a brace against the Saints – while Mo Salah bagged a double midweek at Everton. The Reds’ tally of 43 goals is 10 clear of the rest of the Premier League field.

Next in the firing line is dour Wolverhampton, who have lost just one of their last nine and are coming off consecutive scoreless draws after bottom-three sides Norwich and Burnley. Eighth-placed Wolves are equal-third (with Liverpool) for goals conceded with 12, but only two clubs have scored less than their 12.

Liverpool have won their last nine Premier League matches against Wolves – seven of them to nil. Last season the defending champs romped to a 4-0 win at Anfield, while Diogo Jota’s goal on halftime secured a 1-0 victory at Wolverhampton.

Wolves boast three wins and a draw from their last four at Molineux Stadium, but home-ground advantage is unlikely to be enough to compete with a Liverpool outfit that has scored 25 goals in seven away games this season.

Best Bet: Result and Total – Liverpool and Over 2.5 @ $2.00

Same Game Multi: Handicap – Liverpool -1; Total – Over 3.5; Wolverhampton Total – Under 1.5; Anytime Goalscorer – Diogo Jota @ $7.58

EPL Tips – Southampton V Brighton and Hove Albion

02:00 (AEDT), Sun 5th Dec @ St Mary’s Stadium, Southampton

History: Played 75: Southampton 36 V Brighton 21 (18 Draws)

Last meeting: March 14, 2021 (EPL): Brighton 2 d Southampton 1 at St Mary’s Stadium

Final Thoughts: Southampton, 16th on the ladder, bounced back from humbling road losses to Norwich (2-1) and Liverpool (4-0) with a 2-all draw at home to Leicester midweek. Che Adams scored his third goal in five games, but the Saints may see the stalemate as a missed opportunity after twice getting out to a lead.

Brighton are still clinging to a spot in the top half despite going winless in their last nine games. They have featured in seven draws during that time, including a 1-all result at West Ham midweek after Neal Maupay’s stunning 89th-minute equaliser.

Southampton has lost just one of their last nine against Brighton. But honours were shared last season, both clubs picking up a 2-1 away victory over the other.

Brighton are $3 underdogs on the road but this shapes as an ideal opportunity to snap their two-and-half month winless run.

Best Bet: Result – Brighton @ $3.00

Same Game Multi: Brighton To Win To Nil; Total – Under 2.5; Brighton Half-time Total – Over 0.5 @ $8.67

EPL Tips – Watford V Manchester City

04:30 (AEDT), Sun 5th Dec @ Vicarage Road, Watford

History: Played 31: Man City 20 V Watford 6 (5 Draws)

Last meeting: July 21, 2020 (EPL): Man City 4 d Watford 0 at Vicarage Road

Final Thoughts: Watford have emerged as one of the Premier League’s enigmas, struggling against middling and lower-table teams but overachieving against high-profile opposition. The 17th-placed Hornets boast wins over Everton and Man United by three-goal margins in recent times, while they responded to a 4-2 loss to Leicester last weekend with a gritty 2-1 defeat to league leaders Chelsea during the midweek round.

Second-placed Manchester City are just one point shy of Chelsea thanks to four straight wins. They had to work hard to get over Aston Villa 2-1 midweek, with Bernardo Silva, Raheem Sterling and Ruben Dias the standouts.

Man City are unbeaten in their last 18 matches against Watford, winning the last 14 in a row. The Citizens have won the last three encounters against the Hornets by the eye-watering combined tally of 18-0.

Value is difficult to come by with Man City just $1.18 for the win, but we should be in for a high-scorer at Vicarage Road.

Best Bet: Total – Over 3.5 @ $2.12

Same Game Multi: Handicap – Man City -1; Total – Over 3.5; Both Teams To Score; Man City Win Both Halves; Anytime Goalscorer – Raheem Sterling @ $12.29

EPL Tips – Leeds United V Brentford

01:00 (AEDT), Mon 6th Dec @ Elland Road, Leeds

History: Played 40: Leeds 14 V Brentford 12 (14 Draws)

Last meeting: February 11, 2020 (Championship): 1-1 draw at Brentford Community Stadium

Final Thoughts: Leeds United are hunting back-to-back wins for the first time this season when they host Brentford.

Leeds, 15th on the ladder, have lost just one of their last six and grabbed a 1-0 victory at home over Crystal Palace via Raphinha’s 93rd-minute goal.

Brentford are 12th but are only one point ahead of Leeds in a congested bottom half. After picking up just one point from their previous five games, the Bees put away Everton 1-0 last weekend courtesy of a first-half penalty to Ivan Toney, but they went down 2-0 to Tottenham midweek.

Leeds are showing signs of having turned a corner and with two days’ extra rest than their opponents I’ll back them to get the job done at home.

Best Bet: Result – Leeds @ $2.00

Same Game Multi: Leeds To Win To Nil; Total – Under 2.5; Leeds To Have 5+ Shots On Target @ $6.97

EPL Tips – Manchester United V Crystal Palace

01:00 (AEDT), Mon 6th Dec @ Old Trafford, Manchester

History: Played 59: Man United 38 V Crystal Palace 9 (12 Draws)

Last meeting: March 3, 2021 (EPL): 0-0 draw at Selhurst Park

Final Thoughts: The post-Ole Gunnar Solksjaer era at Manchester United is off to a solid start, with caretaker Michael Carrick guiding the embattled heavyweights to a 1-all draw with league leaders Chelsea and a 3-2 win over Arsenal in the past week. Benched against Chelsea, Cristiano Ronaldo responded with a second-half brace to thwart the Gunners.

Following a seven-match unbeaten streak that included the scalp of Man City, it’s been a tough past week for 11th-placed Crystal Palace courtesy of consecutive losses to Aston Villa (2-1) at home and Leeds (1-0) away. The latter saw Palace held scoreless for the first time since mid-September.

Crystal Palace have proved a bogey for Man United over the past three seasons, nabbing two wins and two draws from the teams’ last six encounters and going unbeaten at Old Trafford. Last season Palace scored a shock 3-1 win in Manchester and held the heavyweights to a scoreless draw in London.

It’s too early to say United are back on track, but the signs are positive and back-to-back wins for the first time since September loom with a slumping Palace coming to town.

Best Bet: Half-time/Full-time – Man United/Man United @ $2.38

Same Game Multi: Handicap – Man United -1; Total – Over 3.5; Both Teams To Score; Anytime Goalscorer – Marcus Rashford @ $12.22

EPL Tips – Tottenham Hotspur V Norwich City

01:00 (AEDT), Mon 6th Dec @ Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, London

History: Played 74: Tottenham 32 V Norwich 24 (18 Draws)

Last meeting: March 4, 2020 (FA Cup): Norwich 1 d Tottenham 1 (penalties) at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Final Thoughts: Tottenham remain unbeaten since Antonio Conte’s early-November arrival, climbing to sixth with consecutive wins over Leeds (2-1) and Brentford (2-0). Spurs also have a game in hand after last weekend’s fixture against Burnley was snowed out. They could have beaten the Bees by more and switched off for periods, but it was another step in the right direction for the misfiring heavyweights.

Second-last Norwich City are on a four-match unbeaten streak, boosting their hopes of avoiding immediate relegation by following up back-to-back wins over Brentford and Southampton with draws against Wolves and Newcastle.

But the Canaries relatively gentle schedule ends here – and losses to Liverpool, Man City, Arsenal and Chelsea by a combined 16-0 don’t bode well ahead of a showdown with another Champions League hopeful.

Best Bet: Handicap – Tottenham -1 @ $2.10

Same Game Multi: Total – Over 2.5; Tottenham To Win To Nil; Anytime Goalscorer – Son Heung-min @ $6.37

EPL Tips – Aston Villa V Leicester City

03:30 (AEDT), Mon 6th Dec @ Villa Park, Birmingham

History: Played 104: Leicester 44 V Aston Villa 35 (25 Draws)

Last meeting: February 21, 2021 (EPL): Leicester 2 d Aston Villa 1 at Villa Park

Final Thoughts: After failing to capitalise fully on a soft section of their schedule so far, Leicester City will be desperate to leave Birmingham with all three points this weekend. The 10th-placed Foxes overwhelmed Watford 4-2 last weekend – their only win in their past five games – with Jamie Vardy scoring a first-half brace, but were held to a 2-all draw by Southampton midweek. They twice came from behind to share the spoils with the Saints.

Aston Villa are 13th but carry some decent form into this home assignment. After beating higher-placed duo Brighton (2-0) and Crystal Palace (2-1) in their previous two games, the Lions held their own in a 2-1 loss to Manchester City midweek. The aftermath was soured for Villa with news key forward Leon Bailey will miss this clash with Leicester.

Last season Aston Villa nabbed a 1-0 victory at King Power Stadium before Leicester responded with a 2-1 win at Villa Park.

Leicester are $2.88 underdogs, but they haven’t shown anything like the consistency or quality required for punters to have confidence in them. Consider the draw here.

Best Bet: Result – Draw @ $3.40

Same Game Multi: Handicap – Aston Villa +1; Total – Over 2.5; Both Teams To Score; Anytime Goalscorer – Jamie Vardy; Anytime Goalscorer – Danny Ings @ $10.74

EPL Tips – Everton V Arsenal

07:00 (AEDT), Tue 7th Dec @ Goodison Park, Liverpool

History: Played 217: Arsenal 108 V Everton 63 (46 Draws)

Last meeting: April 23, 2021 (EPL): Everton 1 d Arsenal 0 at Emirates Stadium

Final Thoughts: Everton are in a cavernous hole, sitting 14th with just two draws to show for their last eight outings. A 1-0 defeat at Brentford last weekend marked the Toffees’ third straight game without scoring, while they were pumped 4-1 at home by Liverpool midweek.

Fifth-placed Arsenal have turned things around after starting the season with three straight losses but they have lost two of their last three, bookending a 2-0 win over Newcastle with defeats to Liverpool (4-0) and Man United (3-2). Emile Smith Rowe (albeit bizarrely) scored his fourth goal in six matches for the Gunners in the Old Trafford loss.

Everton boast three wins and a draw from their last five against Arsenal, winning both encounters last season – 2-1 at home and 1-0 in London.

Arsenal have not had the best time on the road this season – losing four of seven and scoring just five goals – but they should still be comfortably too good for an Everton side that has been outscored 10-3 in their last four home games.

Best Bet: Result – Arsenal @ $2.10

Same Game Multi: Handicap – Arsenal -1; Total – Over 2.5; Anytime Goalscorer – Emile Smith Rowe @ $15.22
