EPL Tips – Newcastle United V Norwich City

06:30 (AEDT), Wed 1st Dec @ St James’ Park, Newcastle

History: Played 58: Newcastle 24 V Norwich 17 (17 Draws)

Last meeting: February 1, 2020 (EPL): 0-0 draw at St James’ Park

Final Thoughts: The bottom two teams in the Premier League face off in a vital opportunity to boost their respective bids to avoid relegation.

Winless Newcastle have managed six draws, but they followed up consecutive stalemates against Brighton (1-1) and Brentford (3-3) with a 2-0 loss to Arsenal at the weekend. The Magpies’ 15 goals is a better tally than three clubs in the top half…but their 29 goals conceded is the worst in the league.

Seven of Norwich City’s nine points have been procured in their past three games, upsetting Brentford and Southampton by 2-1 scorelines before playing out a scoreless draw with Wolverhampton. The Canaries have posted an EPL-low seven goals but are improving at the attacking end.

Norwich have won two and drawn two of their last five against Newcastle, but they are winless at St James’ Park since 1988. I’m expecting them to head home with something to show for their efforts this week, though, and they are very tempting value as clear underdogs.

Best Bet: Handicap – Norwich +1 @ $1.91

Same Game Multi: Result – Norwich; Total – Under 2.5; Anytime Goalscorer – Teema Pukki @ $13.36

EPL Tips – Leeds United V Crystal Palace

07:15 (AEDT), Wed 1st Dec @ Elland Road, Leeds

History: Played 64: Leeds 30 V Crystal Palace 18 (16 Draws)

Last meeting: February 8, 2021 (EPL): Leeds 2 d Crystal Palace 0 at Elland Road

Final Thoughts: Leeds United have unquestionably lost significant ground on last season, currently sitting 17th with just two wins. But they have lost only one of their last five, following up a 2-1 loss at Tottenham with a scoreless draw at Brighton on the weekend. Scoring goals – one of their strengths upon last year’s return to the Premier League – continues to be a bugbear, with only two clubs managing less than their 12.

Crystal Palace are 13th, but their seven-match unbeaten run – which included an upset of Manchester City – was halted in a 2-1 home loss to Aston Villa in Week 13, just their third defeat of the season.

The home team is unbeaten in these teams’ last 11 encounters. Last season Palace romped to a 4-1 win at Selhurst Park, while Leeds prevailed 2-0 at Elland Road.

Leeds head in as $2.40 favourites at home but this is a tough one to pick. I’ll take the draw.

Best Bet: Result – Draw @ $3.25

Same Game Multi: Handicap – Crystal Palace +1; Total – Over 2.5; Both Teams To Score; Anytime Goalscorer – Christian Benteke @ $7.88

EPL Tips – Southampton V Leicester City

06:30 (AEDT), Thu 2nd Dec @ St Mary’s Stadium, Southampton

History: Played 94: Southampton 34 V Leicester 31 (29 Draws)

Last meeting: April 30, 2021 (EPL): 1-1 draw at St Mary’s Stadium

Final Thoughts: Southampton are out to arrest a two-game slide, while underachieving Leicester City are chasing back-to-back victories for just the second time this season.

The Saints – after winning three of their previous four – have slipped to 15th courtesy of consecutive losses to Norwich (2-1) and Liverpool (4-0). Their 11 goals is second-worst in the league. The Foxes broke out of a three game funk, including a 3-0 home loss to Chelsea in Week 12, with a 4-2 victory over Watford. Jamie Vardy starred with a first-half brace.

Last season Leicester banked Premier League (2-0) and FA Cup (1-0) wins over Southampton at home, but the teams drew 1-all in their EPL clash at St Mary’s Stadium.

Southampton have only been beaten once at home this season but Leicester’s attacking upswing on the weekend will have alarm bells ringing in the Saints’ backline.

Best Bet: Result – Leicester @ $2.75

Same Game Multi: Handicap – Leicester -1; Total – Over 2.5; Both Teams To Score; Leicester To Score In Both Halves @ $13.48

EPL Tips – Wolverhampton Wanderers V Burnley

06:30 (AEDT), Thu 2nd Dec @ Molineux Stadium, Wolverhampton

History: Played 135: Wolverhampton 66 V Burnley 40 (29 Draws)

Last meeting: April 25, 2021 (EPL): Burnley 4 d Wolverhampton 0 at Molineux Stadium

Final Thoughts: Wolverhampton remain in sixth spot after chalking up five wins and two draws in their last eight games – but their scoreless draw at Norwich on the weekend could be seen as something of a lost opportunity. It was a dull watch for Wolves fans, managing just five shots (two on target) despite having 57 percent possession.

Burnley are 17th but have a game in hand after snow forced the postponement of their Week 13 clash with Tottenham. They are currently on a four-match unbeaten streak, beating Brentford and recording draws with Southampton, Chelsea and Palace.

Burnley have lost just one of their last 10 against Wolves. Last season the Clarets got up 2-1 at Turf Moor and stormed to a stunning 4-0 victory at Molineux Stadium. Kiwi striker Chris Wood notched a hat-trick in the latter rout to go with his goal in the home win.

With Burnley inadvertently avoiding the short turnaround 18 other clubs are navigating this week, the visitors shape as decent value after scoring nine goals in their past four games.

Best Bet: Handicap – Burnley +1 @ $2.00

Same Game Multi: Both Teams To Score; Burnley To Win Either Half; Burnley Half-time Total – Over 0.5 @ $5.73

EPL Tips – Watford V Chelsea

06:30 (AEDT), Thu 2nd Dec @ Vicarage Road, Watford

History: Played 37: Chelsea 21 V Watford 10 (6 Draws)

Last meeting: July 4, 2020 (EPL): Chelsea 3 d Watford 0 at Stamford Bridge

Final Thoughts: Watford have produced some stirring victories this season, but their ability to back up that form week to week has been found wanting. After smashing Man United 4-1 in Week 12, the 16th-placed Hornets were humbled 4-2 by Leicester.

They’ll be hoping to rediscover their giant-killing talents when they host league leaders Chelsea, whose unbeaten streak extended to seven games via a 1-1 draw at home to Man United on the weekend. The Blues equalised through Jorginho’s 69th-minute penalty after a defensive blunder allowed United to open the scoring early in the second half.

Chelsea have won seven of their last eight against Watford, who last prevailed at Stamford Bridge in 1986.

Thomas Tuchel’s side have also followed up their two previous draws and solitary loss this season with wins by two-plus goals – expect a similar result in this one.

Best Bet: Handicap – Chelsea -1 @ $2.00

Same Game Multi: Total – Over 3.5; Handicap – Chelsea -1; Chelsea To Win To Nil; Chelsea To Win Both Halves @ $8.97

EPL Tips – West Ham United V Brighton and Hove Albion

06:30 (AEDT), Thu 2nd Dec @ London Stadium, London

History: Played 55: West Ham 18 V Brighton 18 (19 Draws)

Last meeting: May 15, 2021 (EPL): 1-1 draw at Amex Stadium

Final Thoughts: West Ham are clinging to fourth spot despite consecutive losses, while ninth-placed Brighton are chasing their first win since September 19th.

The Irons followed up their 1-0 loss at Wolverhampton with a 2-1 defeat away to Man City in Week 13. They managed just five shots and had only 31.5 percent possession against the champs, only getting on the board deep into stoppage time through Manuel Lanzini.

Brighton have maintained their position in the top half via regular draws, most recently a scoreless affair at home to Leeds on the weekend. The Seagulls have lost just three games this season but have scored a modest 12 goals – half West Ham’s tally.

The teams have played out a remarkable five consecutive draws, while West Ham are winless in their last eight games against Brighton. Last season the scoreboard finished up 2-all at London Stadium and 1-all at Amex Stadium.

Hammers beat Tottenham and Liverpool in their last two home games, and a return to London Stadium shapes as the perfect tonic for the top-four hopefuls getting back to winning ways.

Best Bet: Result – West Ham @ $1.91

Same Game Multi: Handicap – West Ham -1; Total – Over 3.5; Half-time Result – West Ham; West Ham Score in Both Halves @ $9.34

EPL Tips – Everton V Liverpool

07:15 (AEDT), Thu 2nd Dec @ Goodison Park, Liverpool

History: Played 289: Liverpool 121 V Everton 83 (85 Draws)

Last meeting: February 20, 2021 (EPL): Everton 2 d Liverpool 0 at Anfield

Final Thoughts: Everton are in a deep funk, sliding to 14th courtesy of a seven-match winless run. Can a derby date with dominant Liverpool rectify a flagging campaign?

The Toffees’ 1-0 loss at Brentford on the weekend was their fifth in sixth games – and their third straight outing without scoring a goal. Liverpool, meanwhile, have destroyed Arsenal and Southampton by 4-0 scorelines in the past 10 days, with Diogo Jota scoring three goals across the two routs.

The Merseyside derby at Goodison Park las season finished 2-all, but Everton snapped an agonising 23-game winless streak against their crosstown rivals with a 2-0 upset at Anfield.

Given the teams’ contrasting formlines, Liverpool’s $1.36 favouritism arguably looks a little generous. It could be a sombre occasion for the home fans at Goodison Park.

Best Bet: Result and Total – Liverpool and Over 2.5 @ $1.91

Same Game Multi: Handicap – Liverpool -1; Total – Over 2.5; Liverpool To Win To Nil; Liverpool Win Both Halves @ $5.75

EPL Tips – Aston Villa V Manchester City

07:15 (AEDT), Thu 2nd Dec @ Villa Park, Birmingham

History: Played 175: Man City 77 V Aston Villa 57 (41 Draws)

Last meeting: April 21, 2021 (EPL): Man City 2 d Aston Villa 1 at Villa Park

Final Thoughts: Aston Villa have an opportunity to win three straight Premier League games for the first time since their hot 4-0 start to the 2020-21 season. After losing five straight, Villa have accounted for Brighton (2-0) and Palace (2-1) in the two rounds since Steven Gerrad assumed the coaching reins.

But second-placed Manchester City arrive in Birmingham in fine touch, winning their last three against Man United (2-0), Everton (3-0) and West Ham (2-1) to close to within one point of leaders Chelsea. The defending champs were without Jack Grealish, Phil Foden, Kevin De Bruyne and Ferran Torres for the West Ham win, while John Stones has been battling illness.

A scoreless draw in 2015 is the best Aston Villa have managed in their last 11 matches against Man City. Last season the Citizens prevailed 2-0 at home and 2-1 at Villa Park.

Despite their stacked list of unavailable stars and players racing the clock to be fit, $1.33 favourites City’s depth should be sufficient to account for improving Villa.

Best Bet: Handicap – Man City -1 @ $1.91

Same Game Multi: Total – Over 3.5; Handicap – Man City -1; Man City Win Both Halves @ $4.65

EPL Tips – Tottenham Hotspur V Brentford

06:30 (AEDT), Fri 3rd Dec @ Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, London

History: Played 42: Tottenham 23 V Brentford 6 (13 Draws)

Last meeting: January 5, 2021 (EFL Cup): Tottenham 2 d Brentford 0 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Final Thoughts: Tottenham come into Week 14 well-rested after their away fixture with Burnley was postponed due to a snowstorm. The underperforming heavyweights are unbeaten in two games since Antonio Conte’s arrival as manager, playing out a scoreless draw at Everton and outlasting Leeds 2-1 at home. Seventh-placed Spurs trailed at halftime before Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Sergio Reguilon produced second-half goals to ease the pressure on the club.

Brentford ended a lean trot with their fourth win of the season on the weekend, putting away Everton 1-0 courtesy of Ivan Toney’s first-half penalty and the Bees’ first clean sheet since Week 5.

Brentford last defeated Tottenham in 1948. The teams met for the first time in more than 20 years during last season’s League Cup, with Spurs grabbing a 2-0 win.

I’m reticent to back a head-to-head result here – Spurs have been too inconsistent to rely on. But with seven of Tottenham’s last nine and six of Brentford’s last eight producing three-plus goals, the over looks a solid option.

Best Bet: Total – Over 2.5 @ $1.87

Same Game Multi: Result – Draw; Total – Over 1.5; Both Teams To Score @ $5.34

EPL Tips – Manchester United V Arsenal

07:15 (AEDT), Fri 3rd Dec @ Old Trafford, Manchester

History: Played 234: Man United 99 V Arsenal 85 (50 Draws)

Last meeting: January 30, 2021 (EPL): 0-0 draw at Emirates Stadium

Final Thoughts: Manchester United’s inevitable decision to cut ties with Ole Gunnar Solksjaer had the desired immediate impact, with caretaker Michael Carrick guiding the struggling big guns to a 1-all draw away to league leaders Chelsea on the weekend. It wasn’t without drama, though, with Cristiano Ronaldo benched in a shock move. Meanwhile, United have still won just one of their last eight.

Fifth-placed Arsenal have won seven and drawn two of their last 10, responding well to a 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Liverpool courtesy of a 2-0 win at home to Newcastle. Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli bagged second-half goals after a scoreless opening stanza.

Man United are winless in their last five against Arsenal. Last season the Gunners got up 1-0 at Old Trafford – their first Premier League win at the venue since 2006 – before the teams played out a scoreless draw in London.

Arsenal have scored just three goals in six away games this season, but United have scored only once in their last four games at Old Trafford. The Gunners appear to have turned a corner and are hard to ignore as underdogs given their opponents’ recent upheaval.

Best Bet: Handicap – Arsenal +1 @ $1.91

Same Game Multi: Result – Arsenal; Both Teams To Score; Arsenal To Score In Both Halves @ $9.11
