Week 8 of the 2021/22 EPL season saw Manchester United’s horror run continue, while the new owners buzz at Newcastle couldn’t lift them out of the mire.

Ole’s rut continues
One point in three games. It’s a dire state of affairs for Manchester United and manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Rarely in his almost three-year reign has the Norwegian required a win as much as he did on Saturday against Leicester. Going in as $2.10 favourites with Palmerbet, an early Mason Greenwood stunner put his side into the driver’s seat. But, as they’ve done numerous times in the last six weeks, they crumbled under pressure — particularly at the back. Toon trouble
There was a festival-like atmosphere outside St James’ Park on Sunday as Newcastle United prepared for their home clash against Tottenham. But by the final whistle, the mood had returned to a level we’ve become more accustomed to seeing. Despite going ahead inside the first three minutes, Steve Bruce’s side ($3.50 pre-game) were pegged back by Spurs ($2.00) who eventually finished 3-2 winners. Despite the fact they sit in 19th position and are winless this EPL season, Newcastle’s relegation odds ($2.40) aren’t the shortest they’ve been all season, likely the result of expected January signings in an attempt to see off the drop.

Wolves hit their straps
Without a point after three games, things were getting nervy at Molineux for new manager Bruno Lage. In fact the club, which had finished as high as seventh in recent seasons, were into $6.00 to be relegated. But a stirring upset win over Aston Villa on the weekend (despite starting $3.40 outsiders) saw them register a fourth victory in five EPL games. And it’s seemingly staved off any chances of relegation. Lage’s side are now out to $15 to drop down.
